The story was very good, very traditional cruel and tricky fae which was a good difference from some fae in books where they only have hearts of gold. I like Kaye, and I love Roiben.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. Holly Black is a brilliant writer. Her storytelling lifts the veil to the magical realm. Her characters are edgy but relatable. I love that you hear the story from several characters points of view.

Fun fantasy story

Read this when I was in high school . A fun read. If you love faeries you’ll be into this one.

worth the wait !!

i’ve been waiting for this amazing story to join its companions on audible for years — and I was not disappointed once it did, This book was the gateway into Faerie for me so many years ago; it remains among my favorites to this day, along with other works of Holly Black. How I missed Kaye & Roiben!

Such good dark fantasy

It’s been a long while since I read this book and listening to it again just reminded me how much I love the writing style and story telling I wish Holly Black would write some adult (spicy) fantasy but for a YA book this series is sooo enjoyable and worth a read/ listen.

holly black has been my favorite since I was a kid. going back now as a grown woman rereading these books. i still get the tingles. her stories are beautiful.

This was always one of my comfort books as a kid, and the first to introduce me to the Fae realm. Most of my books growing up came straight from the library and this one was magical in a way that I could always find it. No matter what library I was in. I've read it so many times before the interweb that I didn't realize there was more until years ago. at the old age of 32 and having the luxury (and ever waning ADHD attention span) of being able to buy audio books, I found this gem and a lot of other books from Holly Black.

ANYWAY, I suppose I would call this a classic based on the writing style, world building, and timeless themes our girly brought into this one because it's just as good at 32 as it was at 13.

Phenomenal

A great masterpiece that sparks an incredible series. Black weaves a world of magic and beckons you to step inside. The fae realm collides with the essence of the 2000’s in an early-time capsule. Reading it when it came out is just as delicious as experiencing it now. Artful dialogue, dreamy scenarios, romance and adventure. Perfect. Excellent narration.
