Acerca de esta escucha

By age 25, Heather Anderson had hiked what is known as the "Triple Crown" of backpacking: the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail - a combined distance of 7,900 miles with a vertical gain of more than one million feet. A few years later, she left her job, her marriage, and a dissatisfied life and walked back into those mountains.

In her new memoir, Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home, Heather, whose trail name is "Anish", conveys not only her athleticism and wilderness adventures, but also shares her distinct message of courage - her willingness to turn away from the predictability of a more traditional life in an effort to seek out what most fulfills her. Amid the rigors of the trail - pain, fear, loneliness, and dangers - she discovers the greater rewards of community and of self, conquering her doubts and building confidence. Ultimately, she realizes that records are merely a catalyst, giving her purpose, focus, and a goal to strive toward.

This was a great book. The author had a great story to tell and was an amazing person. The reader did a fantastic job representing the author. What a strong will this lady has in accomplishing what she has done in life. It was great reading about it

What a strong lady

Great listen for those who like hiking. It’s not as good as Hike, but it’s another woman’s adventure on the Pacific Crest Trail. If you’re familiar with Hike, this book gives a lot of new changes to the trail like Trail Angels and more watering holes. I recommend this audiobook.

Great listen

Heather’s story of self-doubt and triumph were in large part over-shadowed by other-Heather’s breathless, anxious reading.

Excellent writing, dreadfully over-dramatic narration

I wonder how well matched the narrator's voice is to the author's voice. That aside, this is a wonderful account of an amazing person, who believes hersemf to be mundane, recounting a journey that is, quite frankly, epic.

An amazing listen and likely an even better read.

Raw, real and compelling

Great book. It’s a daily account of the ups and downs that happen when pushing yourself to do something ridiculously hard. I’ve always wanted to do a through hike and this book is honest, inspirational and motivating.

Looking forward to reading it again

I wish this book had built from the beginning a little differently. I was slightly put off when the author was immediately struggling and talking repetitively about thirst and fear and criticizing herself. I stuck with it, however, and I'm glad I did! The overall theme about finding yourself and being who you are is revealed in a way that's original and meaningful. I also like how the author shows that even when we accomplished what seems like the impossible for ourselves, we still have moments of doubt and insecurity. A good read and now I'm an Anish fan!

At first it was hard to listen to all her self doubt and hear the mistakes she made. But I had to keep on listening to hear the outcome of this journey. so good.
