About this listen

In Maywood Heights, stars burn bright. They fall even harder.

They call them the Court, an elite boys club who rule Windsor Preparatory Academy like gods among men. And, of course, they're led by Hercules himself.

Royal Prinze - yes, that's actually his name - walks around both the school and the town like he owns them. His affiliation to the prestigious Court only gives him more clout. These boys do anything they want. They take anything they want, and they f--k anything they want...in that order.

Then there's me.

I came to Maywood Heights to live with my virtually indifferent father because my sister went AWOL. She chose to stay with him after our parents' divorce when we were kids, and I haven't seen or heard from her since summer began. The last thing I imagined when enrolling at her school was that she'd be connected to a group like the Court and boys like Royal. She's nothing like them and so much better than Royal and his elitist attitude.

So, why then are they saying he's her best friend?

Warning: This enemies-to-lovers high-school romance contains some dark themes and light bullying. The book is not a stand-alone and is book one in a four-part series of full-length novels. Royal Prinze is the only hero of this tale...good luck getting him to share.

Exciting High School Drama

I received this audobook free for an honest review, as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions Review Team. First, this is a cliffhanger. Second, it is an excellent story about unusual high school drama. At least from my optic, it is unusual. The poor girl goes to a rich school and is partly an outcast. But because of her missing sister's relationship with the "Court", she is sometimes accepted by the cool kids and sometimes not. Her relationship with the head of the Court, Royal, is tumultuous. However, the secret of her sister's disappearance is the overall mystery of this story. And the relationship between December and Royal is the romance mystery. The author does an excellent job of building the story and making it suspenseful. The narrator did an awesome job with the characters and their personalities.

Enjoyable narration. good storyline

Some frustrating moments where you just want to shake some sense into the main character but otherwise a good storyline.. Good narration too, it’s not easy for one narrator to do the male and female voices that doesn’t make you cringe.

Great Story!!

I really enjoyed this story. The characters in it have become progressively more interesting as the story goes on. The ending was a bit of a surprise. The narrators do a great job telling the story. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Great listening experience ☺️

Great narrator voice that matches the character she's portraying perfectly. perfect tone and rhythm while she's reading too so I didn't find myself droning out from my ADHD attention loss. amazing first book in the series-- which let's be honest, the first book rarely IS good for any series. A bit of mystery mixed with some romance, heirarchy and all manly hotness rolled into one. ugh I loved it.... and the puppy?! She's my favorite character 😉. Dog mom here!

Enemies to lovers with mystery

This is truly one of those guilty pleasure books you can’t wait to tell your book friends about. It’s a little bit of drama, a little bit of sexy but it’s the underlying mystery through the whole book that just sets this one apart. Once you start you will not be able to stop just get comfortable and enjoy the ride. I think this series will be absolutely brilliant.

Kasi Hollowell pulls off slightly naive high school girl with a past so flipping well.

I Couldn't Stop Listening!

Title: They The Pretty Stars
Author: Eden O'Neill
Format: Audio
Narrator: Kasi Hollowell
Genre: Romantic Suspense, High School Bully
Standalone: No
Part of a Series: Book 1 of Court High
POV: December
Steam Level: Some, but not a lot
5/5

Eden O'Neill can craft a story. In They The Pretty Stars, December goes to live with her dad after her sister goes missing. No one but her seems the least bit concerned. December learns all about her sister's life, a life she knew nothing about. Once I started listening to They The Pretty Stars I didn't want to stop. It was gripping and engrossing. I can't wait to wait to see what happens next.

I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Huge surprise, couldn't stop listening!

I have never read or listened to any of Eden O'Neill's books but that is going to change after listening to They the Pretty Stars!! I couldn't get enough of this story and listened to it waaaay too quickly. I thought Em/December was an amazing MC that I want to read more of. I loved the story/world Eden created. I think adding Hershey was phenomenal, she made me smile a lot and giggle at her antics haha. I thought the tension and relationship building between December and Royal was perfect! The rollercoaster was realistic and I liked that the bullying wasn't too much (I mean there was from other characters, but from Royal and the other members of the Court, it was tame compared to others I have recently read/listened to). I DIED of happiness with the scene in the pumpkin patch (so freaking cute!!!) and boyyyy did it get 🔥🔥🔥. I thought the way Eden made us fall for the sweet, vulnerable moments of Royal and December was super smart. And when they were rocky it hit you right in the feels. I think the ending was inevitable to be honest. I was dreading it but had a gut feeling. What a way to get a new fan, Eden! I cannot wait until the others are on audio, going to gobble them up real quick ❤️❤️❤️ I am excited to get to know more of the other characters too!! The other Court members got my attention and am intrigued to see how they grow and develop as the series continues.

I think what made me love this story so much was the narration by Kasi Hollowell. I fell in love with her voice and inflections with a RH series she did either last year or earlier this year (2020 is such a blur at this point haha). I thought Kasi was absolutely fantastic and really brought this story to life. She did a great job with December's emotions, especially when the past scenes were interspersed with present. I thought the heartache she exuded was on point, especially with Royal losing his best friend, her Dad and her showdown at the hospital, and then the gut wrenching ending. Her happiness and giddiness with Hersey was infectious. Kasi I think is forever on my auto buy list, like I have for my 1-click authors on Amazon.

100000% recommend this audiobook, you will not be disappointed in it. It will help you escape the craziness of 2020 for a couple hours, but be prepared to want the next one right away haha. I am glad the series is finished, now just have to be patient for the audiobooks to be out 😊
