The brilliant psychological thriller from bestseller Valerie Keogh.

Grieving or guilty?

When Allison’s wealthy and charming husband Peter is found dead, she appears distraught, devastated...delighted?

Because despite an apparently picture-perfect marriage, Allison knows it was all built on a bed of lies.

And as the truth regarding Peter’s life and death are revealed, Allison must try to keep her own dark past buried.

Because if Peter was keeping secrets, then his widow is too....

Perfect for fans of Sue Watson, Shalini Boland and K. L. Slater.

Critic reviews

"Keogh is the queen of compelling narratives and twisty plots." (Jenny O'Brien)

"A wonderful book, I can’t rate this one highly enough. If only there were ten stars, it’s that good. Valerie Keogh is a master story-teller, and this is a masterful performance." (Anita Waller, bestselling author)

Enjoyed

The twists and turns. Also liked that the characters were multi-dimensional. Well done. Enjoyed uncovering the secrets.

Read My Review!

Dumbest book ever. I gave it 5 stars in hopes it would make it past Audibles filters where they only post the good reviews. Dragged on and on with the author all over the place as if it was a 4th grader who wrote it with ADHD. Awful.

Everything I wanted in a cosy twisty domestic psychological thriller

I am thrilled this was included in Audible Plus. I will be seeking out other books by this author. A perfect domestic thriller for me. Well written, a slightly different angle on things! Perfect!

Not great

Not awful but not unlistenable. 3 out of 5. Drags a lot. At times the narrator is just too dramatic and breathy. Honey it’s not that dramatic. Take it down a notch.

Really good book

I really enjoyed this book. Even though I figured out who a character was very early on the rest of the book was a surprise.

well-written and well narrated

The 3 titles I've listened to by this author all had the same narrator and I was glad. The narration was great, and this narrator is perfect for these books. I hope to listen to her again.

The Widow, like the Librarian and The Lodger, was so, so well written, Riveting throughout, the action keeping my interest. The characters were unique, unusual and finely drawn.

What I didn't like was that I like the protagonists to be the good guys not the criminals, and each of these characters was guilty of something. Can't say more about that without spoilers. I will listen to more by this author.

Great book

Lots of twists and turns. I really liked the book even though sometimes I had to run back and listen again as I missed something. I would highly recommend if you like suspenseful drama!

Grieving or guilty? Indeed!

I just finished “The Widow” by Valerie Keogh, narrated by Rose Robinson, from Audible Plus. I was thoroughly impressed. The writing and narration were brilliant, keeping me engaged and eager for more. This was my first experience with both the author and narrator, and I was delighted to discover this talented duo. The plot was expertly crafted, revealing the truth about Peter's life and death, while Allison's dark past threatened to surface. With its subplots {{{there are many}}}, unexpected twists and turns, this devious audiobook had me hooked from start to finish with just the right serving of the creep factor mixed in. I'm now looking forward to exploring more of Keogh's works, and I hope to find Robinson narrating them as well. Highly recommended and one of my absolute favorites in my vast Audible library (after almost nine years as a member, I’ve accumulated quite a collection, mostly British).
