Overly

At first I was pleased with the plot, but it soon turned out that the author just aims to create an "intricate" story for the sake of it, without really creating an engaging reading experience. He crams many subplots into one book without going into enough depth to get us invested in any character or story.

Thus, even if you are surprised by the end reveal, you are not feeling satisfied at all.

To me each of the subplots would be satisfying in its own right, as a separate book, IF done with the right amount of depth. Cramming everything into one book and tying it all together sloppily and with some logical inconsistencies... created a very sub-par reading experience.

Donnato Carrisi has done it again.

Donnato Carrisi has done it again. Mila is supported by a rich cast of characters in a plot with so many twists and turns it's impossible to work out who the real culprit is, and there are also other surprises woven into the story to create a multi layered tale I could not put down. There may a few narrators as expressive as Saul Reichlin but there are none better, particularly for this kind of writing. Another top tier effort from these two that leaves me wanting more.
