Randidly's capabilities are now more than enough to help build a small enclave of survivors, but that doesn't mean balancing his sense of responsibility against the plots of an unfriendly town will be easy.

Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

much better
The first two books in the series were pretty bad, but the third book showed promise and these next three books are indeed much better in possibly every way. I'm actually looking forward to finishing the series now.

Book has realistic depictions of people in relationships. It's not even slightly important to plot.
Solid book, great performance. Relationships happen, people live and die, sometimes Relationships surprise you, and sometimes the foreshadowing was there for several books. Laughing at the people who are shocked at "the gays"

Good progression.
Definitely a good series different than what you would expect but that’s a good thing. I enjoyed this series and it was worth the credit for SURE. It does keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat during sometimes other times you wish the combat would just come to an end already.

This had been a good series overall. I have enjoyed the story, character development, and action. Though the 6th book and all the politics had me zoning out. Thankfully it wasn't too bad. Excited to get started on the next adventure in the series.

book 6...
Starts 4 years after book 5.
Lana, is a minor character.
The Mc goes full gay.
Super-powered now.
Mysteriously is able to win over 80 percent of the vote.
Deals that make no since, gives all his ownings away.
My intention at the end of book 5 was to read to series end.
I was hoping that the Australian series characters might tie in... nope.

spends way much time wasting it on inner dialog. also edging along another generic I'm so hip to LGBT I've included a border lesbian to seem ok though I'm only another breeder who can only accept lesbians to avoid the topic while selling I'm cool with it.

book 6 ruins the entire story...
great story and nick podehl is the best reader ever. The stories were amazing, until book 6. Book 6 is total trash. I hate authors who make these mistakes. Stop at the end of book 5 and just move on to another book so the series isn't ruined for you.
