About this listen

The fourth book in Dawn Dais's popular Sh!t No One Tells You series offers honest and “laugh out loud” (Parents) advice for expectant parents

Pregnancy is about more than scanning Pinterest for baby shower themes and registering for ironic onesies. Sometimes, the less flattering aspects of gestation can dim a bit of that so-called pregnancy glow. Not to worry! Dawn Dais is here, ready to shepherd listeners through the experience of one human body taking on the task of growing another human body. (Spoiler alert: It’s not always pretty.)

Dawn covers it all, sharing expert lists, tips, warnings, and even a series of Parent-Training Workouts designed to increase listeners' tolerance to the various indignities of parenthood, like peeing with an audience and surviving an afternoon in Chuck E. Cheese. The Sh!t No One Tells You About Pregnancy is a must-have guide for expectant moms (and their partners!) who are looking for some counsel, comedy, and camaraderie during their ultimate countdown to parenthood.

I truly enjoyed this listen and will most definitely listen to this book again every trimester as I go along in my pregnancy to remind myself of the s*** no one tells you and that I got this! This book was so informative, especially for new parents. I recommend you and your partner listen to this! My partner would walk in and stay to listen for a few and didn’t leave without a laugh! Oh Dawn wherever you are, May God bless you with a special gift and from my family to yours, A BIG THANK YOU!

Real raw info, and hilarious!

I thought this was funny and gave me a good laugh. Some parts were helpful or informative if it's your first. There are partner and real mom stories that add a neat perspective as well. I also think dads could enjoy this and maybe learn something when mom is done reading it.

Great if it's your first and need a laugh!

This is my first pregnancy and I am enjoyed this book greatly. I liked the humor and the feel of realness. I loved hearing the moms as well as the partners perspective too. I think it was a good mix of expectations v reality, a touch of badassery and a lot of things I didn’t know I had to both look forward to and look out for. Thank you.

Quirky wonderful and raw read. Thank you.

Informative and REAL! I didn’t feel like I was just being bombarded with more technical information. This book helped me relax but also know the most important things to consider throughout each phase. I loved hearing from the spouses of those who are pregnant!

Every Pregnant Woman Should Listen to This

Such a fun, light hearted book about pregnancy. I was laughing the whole time. Not yet pregnant, just starting to do some research as it’s coming soon. I highly recommend!

Keep you entertained

I'm pregnant with my second, but 13 years after the first. I ready every recommended pregnancy book the first time around no matter how long or dry. This time I am reading books that have a tempered, experiential approach. This book made me physically nod in agreement and laugh out loud. It also is thoughtful and incited me to research into a few things deeper. This is my partner's first BABY-baby so I will certainly have him read thia too. There is so much practical advice for partners!

I really appreciate this books tone. this author saw me, saw our struggle, both coming and present. She didn't assume I had a husband, didn't glaze over all the extra bullshit we've had to go through to get this far, but the author rather deliberately acknowledged and made light of our specifically unfun situation- and that meant a lot to me. whereas this book totally did not address several of my "will I poop on the table" type functional type concerns that I had going into this book, I will say that I do feel now, having read it, much less like those concerns are worth my attention.

I almost stopped listening because of the terrible narration. The reader sounds like a high-schooler reading a speech off a page in a notebook! I wouldn’t call this book a page-turner but overall, I’m glad I kept listening to the end. The author gives some very real advice that prepares you for what real pregnancy and parenting are like. If you are looking for something mindless to listen to, this is a good one. If you are looking for a regimented step by step pregnancy guide, keep looking.
