About this listen
You can run. You can try to hide. But no matter where you are, the scarecrow will find you.
After a heart-wrenching breakup, the last thing high school sophomore Kyle Shoemaker expected was to fight for his life. But that’s exactly what happens after a drunken trip takes he and his friends to the abandoned farm at the edge of town. Nightly, the scarecrow claims one of them, leaving him with little time. Will he unravel the mystery of the scarecrow before it's too late? Or will its secrets remain buried beneath the dirt and wreckage at the old farm?

Fans of The Conjuring and The Amityville Horror will love this chilling new novel unraveling the tale of a family haunted by the ghosts of their malevolent ancestors’ disturbing past. The decrepit well has been a fountain of terror for generations, an abyss of dread that emits tragedy and death like fog. Its darkness touched Jacob’s soul some twenty years ago, and since moving back to his ancestral home, the chilling feeling of being in front of the old well hasn’t left his troubled mind. But this time, the shadows that creep from the well have taken on a malevolent sentience, ...

Story
Crease is known in Weaver as ‘the bug guy’, the man who takes care of insects and other critters. But what emerges from the shadows of the town’s waste plant is beyond anything found in nature. Fist-sized cockroaches. Bird-sized wasps. Spiders, millipedes, ticks, all swollen to enormous bulk with vicious appetites to match. And other things, creatures that should never exist. Through the night, they come, slithering, buzzing, scuttling, crawling over skin, burrowing into flesh, making the town their nest.

Story
Horror is what Dan Law enjoys. He loves to read horror novels as a way to escape from his teaching job, from his loneliness, from the everyday dullness of life in Silver Lake. That’s what Dan lives for. When a new bookstore opens in town, every visitor receives a free book of their own. A book that tells their own personal story...a story they have to follow to the brutal end. As Silver Lake’s population descends into violent savagery, Dan finds he is no longer living for horror novels - he’s living inside one.

Story
These thirteen stories are our own lives, inside out. A boy's summer romance doesn't end in that good kind of heartbreak, but in blood. A girl on a fishing trip makes a friend in the woods, except then that friend follows her back to the city. A father hears a voice through his baby monitor that shouldn't be possible, but now he can't stop listening. From prison guards making unholy alliances to snake-oil men in the Old West doling out justice, these stories carve down into the body of the mind, into our most base fears and certainties, and there's no anesthetic.

Anyone familiar with H. P. Lovecraft's work knows of the Necronomicon, the black-magic grimoire he invented as a literary prop in his classic horror stories. There have been several attempts at creating this text, yet none stand up to Lovecraft's own descriptions of the Necronomicon...until now. Fans of Lovecraftian magic and occult fiction will delight in Donald Tyson's Necronomicon, based purely within Lovecraft's own fictional universe, the Cthulhu Mythos.

The Scarecrow
I do not care for virtual voice however I don't let it stop me from choosing books to listen to. "The Scarecrow" had lots of the slasher type murders which were done well. I did have some issues following the some of the characters and how they transitioned into the story. The virtual voice did not help and some of the more dramatic scenes came off very flat unfortunately. It still is worth a listen if you enjoy murdering scarecrows.

Voice is rough
I know it’s AI generated but if you’re going to do this you might as well put in the time and edit it to be good. They can make an AI generated voice of pretty much anyone that has a normal speaking cadence, doesn’t glitch on words, and that can give inflection. The slang and curse words that are what the voice has a hard time with in this book.

More of a Goosebumps story
Not at all scary! Where were all the parents?? Why didn’t these kids see help from adults??
SPOILER ALERT: if Gary wasn’t a bad person to begin with, why kill the kids? Also if he was after descendants of original killers, why not go after the parents?
This was written seemingly more for young adults - like Goosebumps. There wasn’t much in the way of gore as advertised (actually thankful for this). As an avid horror reader/listener, I ax expecting much more. Totally missed the mark.
