About this listen

Florida Omni Search founder Rachel Scott pursues two high-intensity missing-persons cases. She knows painful disappearances all too well: Her adventures began five years ago when she began to search for her own lost daughter.

In Asylum Harbor we meet Amber Knowles, a beautiful high school senior and Florida governor John Knowles’s daughter, who disappears during a cruise to the Bahamas. When Governor Knowles realizes his daughter has vanished without a trace, he seeks Rachel’s help. She works with FBI special agent Drake Reynolds and discovers that the last person to see Amber aboard the ship was an incognito DEA agent who also has vanished. Where is he? And where is Amber? Finally, where is Rachel’s daughter Mallory, whose disappearance haunts Rachel’s every move?

In Burn Out, the second Rachel Scott Adventure, firefighter Lieutenant Samantha Collins goes missing while combating a warehouse blaze, leaving only her helmet behind. Sam’s mother seeks Florida Omni Search’s expert help, and Rachel moves through the case methodically. Starting with Sam’s husband and a pending drug case against him, Rachel uncovers plot twists and clues that could save Sam and reveal what happened to her own daughter. Through both adventures, suspense and action are at a premium.

A Fast Listen from a Great Voice

Where does Asylum Harbor and Burn Out rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am on a Angela Dawe listening binge and found this author's work. Pretty good story telling. Angela good range of voices brings this tale to life. If you read/listened to Linda Howards' Cry No More, this mini series runs along that story line. It has so much potential to add lots of different mysteries for our heroine to solve. It is not on the par of Ms Howard, but could get there. These stories are more like Tami Hoag current work in short format.

Would you be willing to try another book from Traci Hohenstein? Why or why not?

Book #4 is read by another reader, than Angela Dawe, so no. For me it is about the reader, not just the story. #1 read a bit like Ernest Hemingway very precise and fast. I am on #2 as I write this review, and it's reading like an outline so far. I don't know if the pace will pick up but I love the readers' voice so I don't care. I would think the author should add just a bit more to her stories as she has the talent to hold a listener.

Which scene was your favorite?

this author can evoke lots of emotion in different scenes both in book #1 & 2, so she should expand just a bit more. i.e. in book #1 mike and our heroine could have had some good banter or humor as there was no romance in this novel. In book 2, our missing person's husband evokes so much emotion in the first few chapters that I am glued to my head set. I write this review to take a break.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

actually the stories do fit TV series format. Used before "Gone But Not Forgotten"

Any additional comments?

This author is sold at my "buy now price, never a credit." and is good entertainment for the money.

well written. A good book for anyone.

I liked the twists in each story. The characters made you feel like you were right there with them.
I was lucky to have met this author. She works tirelessly to find missing people. Like the book says, leave no possibility unchecked.
