Acerca de esta escucha

From the author of international horror sensation Gone to See the River Man comes a new tale of terror that will drag you to the darkest corners of the soul.

Some girls are fearful, others are brave. One girl’s a princess, the next one a slave. But all girls are equal when they’re down in this cave, until just one is left standing—The Prettiest Girl in the Grave.

It was only supposed to be a game.

When Bella, Celeste, and Rose meet with new friends at a graveyard in the woods, they soon realize they’re unprepared for what’s planned. At 20, Aubrey is older than the high schoolers, and she knows of a secret game that’s been played by local girls for decades.

It starts with personal questions, but quickly moves on to a test of courage as Aubrey guides them into an underground crypt. But even Aubrey doesn’t know what they’re really getting into. Bella’s mother, Holly, may be the only one who does.

As a teen, Holly and her friends also played the game, and Holly barely survived. When she discovers her daughter has gone to the graveyard, she fears Bella will get lost in the mysterious catacombs just as she had—and face the same sinister forces.

As the girls search for a way out, Holly must return to the dreadful crypt she swore she’d never come back to, and finally face her own dark secrets.

Campy without being goofy, it's a good listen. Always worth the buy getting Kristopher Triana books, and a solid performance read as well.

As expected Triana

The actor was very distracting, especially in her pronunciation of macabre as “macabray”. 3x - I was losing my mind each time

Good solid story.

This book kept me on the edge. I enjoyed the characters and plot. i was shocked with the events . the characters are flawed but Triana writes them so you can feel for them in a their messed up moments.

Enthralling

I love how he writes his female characters, he's always written women well. This story was so fun and gory and heartbreaking

I have long been needing to read this book and once I picked it up I was hooked. I enjoyed getting to read this story and thought the concept of this book was creepy and interesting! This book caught my attention from the start and I found it impossible to put down , after it was a fun time getting to read this story and will definitely be reading more books by triana

Amazing Read!

I was in a funk and this took me out of it. Listened to all 7 hours in one sitting. The performance was great. It was funny how she mispronounced macabre though. lol.

The narrator doesn’t know how to pronounce the word “macabre” which bothered me.

Decent story but not extreme horror.

It was ok, not an extreme horror

I feel like I maybe would have liked this story more if there was a different narrator. Her cadence made it sound like AI narrating and the mispronounced words (macabre as mahkabray, ethereal as ehthril, and sepulchre as sepel-chure for example) was especially frustrating.
The story itself was good, pretty gory and an interesting twist on small town urban legends.

The narrator was hard to listen to.

There were a few places in the book where the narrator would repeat sentences, but it was only a handful of times so it didn’t bother me much, just enough to note. Overall the performance was good, her voice fit the teenagers well, but not so much the adults or males. Totally understandable because not everyone can hit every voice characteristic, but it did pull me out of the story a bit.

The story itself was the third Triana book i’ve listened to, it wasn’t my favorite, which was Full Brutal, but it wasn’t the worst. The plot was interesting as a concept, but i felt like I knew where it was going to end about half way through. The descriptions of gore and death that he wrote were gorgeous though, which I’ve come to learn he does well. He really does love the word macabre, as I’m pretty sure it was said at least five times. Just kinda made me laugh a little. I did love the add in of emo and goth culture, that was a fun nod to something that is important to me, as well as other people who are into horror i’d imagine.

Overall, if you want to listen to a creepy story about goths in a terrifying, ever shifting labyrinth under a cemetery, give it a go!

Not my favorite Triana book, but still worth the listen

A fun story where the location was quite interesting and all in all a nice dark story. The narrator mispronounces things here and there (macabre as muh-kob-ray) which is a little jarring but overall does a good job with the teen girl's voices and it's only a few times.

I enjoyed it
