Entertaining story

This story is once again centred on the work of Private Investigator John Handful, but this time he is trying to discover if an innocent man has been accused of the murder of an old woman. I enjoyed the story and liked the character of John Handful, but the audio quality and somewhat flat narration interfered with my enjoyment of this audiobook.

Sherlock Holmes... sorta

This book was slightly better than the first. I had a rougher time finishing it due to audio. I had high hopes for this one. But this just slightly misses the mark for me. Definitely going to continue the series.

Get used to hearing “Oxmarket Daily”

Get used to hearing the name of the paper over and over again.
The narration was ok but it’s hard to picture what I believe is supposed to be a middle aged character with the obviously older voice of the narrator.

Overall story was good.

Good story rough audio.

I enjoyed this book, but the audio quality and narration were rough. The narrator was just kind of meh, and the audio levels were all over the place. Chapters would start out super quiet then ramp up throughout.

An okay mystery

I had higher hopes after book one, but this one was a bit of a letdown because of the change in narrator and the audio had some issues at the start of each chapter starting low and getting louder. It looks like the narrator changes again for book 3 so I will give it a try.

This book was provided free for review, however, the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Not my favorite narration

the story was good, the narrator not so much. there was a long pause at the end of every chapter which made me think the book stopped playing. I think I just got used to the narrator by the end.

Couldn’t finish

Honestly I couldn’t finish this book. The narrator was very difficult to pay attention to. Very gruff and minimal changes in pitch and affect when changing voices.

Murder Mystery in a small English town

This is review for the Audible book. I really wanted to like this book, but couldn’t get into it like I could with Blind Spot.

The biggest reason is the narrator is difficult to enjoy, I didn’t like his voice changes. There was a bit to much dialogue and I got confused who was speaking and who all the cast are. There were two many people in the story, and some of the characters have no real purpose.

There is an awkward pause between chapters.

What I did enjoy was the detective skills of John Handful, but it is a little odd that everything falls into his lap so easily.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
