I like Las Keplar, the author who
brings this series of Swedish police mysteries y o us. This book starts off well with a couple of quick bodies. Then it veers into some tiresome infighting....
after wichita it veers again with enough bad guys and good guys to pick up the pace and racet I a fine ending. It is smart, very interesring, and fun to listen too.

mostly a 4

I’ve been looking for a Joona Linna story to match The Sandman. This is not it. Meandering and slow. Too many new characters to capture. I couldn’t finish it.

Not worth the time

But it was hard to follow and uninteresting. You didn't learn to love anyone enough to care what happened to them. I wondered if some of the problem was in the translation because the sentences were very flat. In the end, I didn't get to the end. I stopped about halfway. Maybe I'll try again another day because I bought it.

I usually love this author

In all of the Lars K. books the plots become more and more impossible the longer the book becomes. Divide the books so the storyline doesn't get ridiculous. The best part is the book hooks you in right away.

Too Long

I liked 2 other of Keplers books with detective Linna. Not this one so much. More of a spy novel.

Lost me about halfway through

The unfortunate pattern of American drama--book, tv, film--is that they are long on action, special effects and violence but short on character development and story. That's my view of this book which I don't expect from Scandinavian fiction.

written for American TV or flim

Every character sounds like an old man. Passages that are clearly supposed to be funny, fall flat. The story is very good though.

I tried to listen to the first book, THE HYPNOTIST by Lars Kepler. I skip read thinking it was bound to get better, but to no avail so finally returned it. I usually enjoy mysteries and detective stories set in the Scandinavian countries so I thought I would give the author, who is two authors using a pen name, another chance. I did skip read, but at least i got to the end of the book. These characters did not appeal to me, and the dialogue and descriptions became, for me, boring and tedious. I'm not sure any human could actually survive the violence inflicted on these characters. They are almost super human.
