About this listen

Best-selling author David Agus unveils the brave new world of medicine, one in which we can take control of our health like never before, and doctors can fine-tune strategies and weapons to prevent illness.

In his first best seller, The End of Illness, David Agus revealed how to add vibrant years to your life by knowing the real facts of health. In this book he builds on that theme by showing why this is the luckiest time yet to be alive, giving you the keys to the new kingdom of wellness.

Medicine is undergoing rapid change. In the old world, you followed general principles, and doctors treated you based on broad, one-size-fits-all solutions. In this new golden age, you'll be able to take full advantage of the latest scientific findings and leverage the power of technology to customize your care. Only those who know how to access and adapt to these breakthroughs - without being distracted by hyped ideas and bad medicine - will benefit. Imagine being able to get fit and lose weight without dieting, train your immune system to fight cancer, edit your DNA to avoid a certain fate, erase the risk of a heart attack, reverse aging, and know exactly which drugs to take to optimize health with zero side effects.

That's the picture of the future that you can enter starting today. Welcome to The Lucky Years.

Hopeful Future of Medicine

Knowing that most of the drugs mankind needs to stay well is already on the pharmacy shelves is a noteworthy claim to say the least.
we will all need an advanced artificial intelligence wrist watch to guide us through our health issues for our continued longevity.

Just ok

This book talks a lot about the "future" starting many statements with "In the future..." The thing is it really does not provide much practical advice! Here's the summary then you can skip the whole book. Exercise, touching, sleep are good. Baby aspirin and statins are maybe good. Sitting around all day, smoking, and not getting enough sleep are bad....nothing life changing presented in this material.

Drugs not more relevant than diet & vitamins

Good Naration. In diminishing holistic approach, author encourages listener to question legitimacy of book.

Listened to it with the kids in the car.

Good book. Presented well. Empowering and smart. It held the kids' attention as well as mine.

Something to look forward to !

Great information, boy do I wish we ALL would focus on prevention, but like everything in this Country we wait until people are killed before we listen and sometimes we don’t even care about that either unless the person is in the peoples mind “ important “
SUCKS WE DON’T care about everyone equally here !! 😡😡

terminology overload

Loved the common sense approach to a healthy lifestyle, will need to read a couple more times to read thru the medical terminologies. I found myself to be inspired but had trouble recalling key points due to the forest of medical lexicons .

Not for everyone

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There is not much useful information here for the general public. It is very general. I did not learn much from it,
