Amazing and very well researched biography of cancer!

Siddhartha Mukherjee apart from being great researcher and Doctor is also great story teller and writer. This is by far one of the best book I read on medical science. He has explained history as well as underlying biological reason, available cure, challenges for comprehensive therapy and future of Cancer in very colloquial language that any layman can understand.. Take a bow Doctor. Mukherjee. Would highly recommend this book to all as 25% of deaths in America every year is due to Cancer and this book will surely change your paradigm the way you look at it.

Very informative. Excellent data about the history of cancer. The narrative was vivid and give us hope for the future.

Not a Fan of the Narrator.

Siddartha is a fantastic speaker, and it's a shame he didn't narrate this book.

That being said, the pace of the book is a rollercoaster of emotion and the author perfectly captures the complex history of progress with various types of cancers. I will definitely be purchasing the physical copy. A must read and one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Another amazing book by this author

I loved his genetics book and I loved this one equally. He has an excellent and entertaining way of explaining difficult concepts to a layperson.

Breaks everything down from beginning to end that even people with only a high school education can understand

Great Narrative

A book about cancer--how interesting can that be? Incredibly. Mukherjee weaves in his own experience as a physician with compelling portraits of the pioneers of cancer research. The narrator brings nuance to the text, and it's strangely easy to listen to a scientific narrative like this one.

it's a very long read and leaves no stone unturned. it's an all encompassing tell of the trial blazers that helped diagnose and treat cancers

A humbling reminder for doctors

This book should be read by all doctors to remind them of how much medicine changes with time. Some of the previous practices that were thought to be helpful are now completely discredited. It's fascinating to learn how these changes occurred, and how much resistance there was. The topic is not in the least cheerful, but somehow the author is able to maintain a sense of hope.
