Publisher's summary

From New York Times bestselling author Robert Cheeke comes a new way of thinking about helping animals and the environment—and making the biggest impact possible with the resources already available to you.

When it comes to reducing animal suffering, many people aren’t sure where to start or which options are most beneficial. Charitable donations? Volunteer work? Dining at vegan restaurants? Meatless Mondays? The truth is that you have far more power than you think to make a real difference.

Inspired by the effective altruism movement, The Impactful Vegan teaches listeners how to audit their impact and follow methods that have been scrutinized, evaluated, and determined to do the most good for animals.

From trusted vegan activist and motivational speaker Robert Cheeke, this in-depth guide will show you just how easy it is to help animals and protect the Earth, by revealing:

  • How to identify the best organizations and volunteer efforts
  • Why supporting for-profit vegan businesses is vital
  • Why some approaches to promoting animal rights and veganism aren’t helpful and, in fact, could be harmful for animals, despite best intentions
  • How to choose a career path that aligns with your values and helps you meet your goals
  • How influencers can build a personal brand and leverage it to promote veganism

Some of these actions are easier and more important than one might think, and armed with this knowledge, you can put your ethics into action. This book will help you help animals every day.

A must read for anyone against animal abuse.

I've been wanting a book like this ever since going vegan 6 years ago. Going vegan is one thing, but there's so much more we can do to help reduce all the pain and suffering we inflict on innocent animals. I always find myself thinking about how I can make more of an impact. I'm always looking for ways to be more effective.

That's where this book comes in. There's a ton of great books about veganism that are very informative about the horrors of animal agriculture. But this book is different. It's main focus is to give practical advise on all the things we can do to be more effective in bringing about change. There's many examples here that will give you ideas. And there's a lot of info about different ways we can get the word out and inspire people to make better choices.

Someone once told me about the difference between a vegan and a vegan activist. If you were walking down the street and saw someone beating the crap out of their dog, you might think it's enough to not participate in the violence. Some might say that not participating in the violence is the vegan thing to do. But if you took action to stop this person from hurting the dog, that's the vegan activist thing to do.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make the most impact possible when it comes to reducing the pain and suffering we inflict on animals.
