About this listen

Prized for his unbeatable tracking skills, Ewen "Hunter" Lamont accepts a dangerous assignment: Locate a missing undercover courier. But this is no ordinary target. Ewen has met his prey before as "Sister Genna," a fiery, forbidden woman forever etched in his memory after one stolen, sinful kiss. Now that he knows her real identity, he's more determined than ever to keep her safe. But without the protection of the veil between them, fighting the allure of the beautiful lass may be the toughest battle this extraordinary warrior has ever faced. After her ill-fated attempt three years ago to rescue her twin sister, Janet of Mar has found salvation acting as a royal messenger - until she surrenders to a darkly handsome warrior whose rough, sensual kisses stir feelings the woman in her can't deny. But when betrayal leads to danger and a crucial communiqué is put in jeopardy, Janet has no choice but to put her faith in the hunter who can find anything-perhaps even her heart.

They keep getting better

Every book in this series has been my favorite, until I read the next one. This series keeps me captivated throughout the entire story.; never a dull moment. I like that the "family" of warriors and their wives grows with each book. Can't wait to see which Highland Guard warrior's story is next!

Another Winner

Janet/Genna was a very enjoyable character. The beginning and middle of this series is exciting and then when you get close to the end they are a little predictable. However, MM's books are enjoyable. This book will not disappoint.

This book kept me on the edge, till the end of the book!!

A brilliant historical highlander romance!I

This book has it all with lots of twists and turns.
The hunted becoming the hunters and vice versa.
It has romance, love, plots, betrayals, deceptions, danger, fear, battles and death!

The details to the beauty of Scotland and how truly horrifying war can be.

The possibility of a true highland guard of superior ghost warriors with unbelievable
skills to help The Bruce claim the Scottish crown makes for a great story!

This series has been very entertaining!

I am personally thankful that I did not grow up in this time period.

So far all the highland guard historical romance books are superb!

I love the author's historical notes at the end of most of the books in this series.
The author points out as much of the true history of this time period as related to this series.

It was done to the best of the author's ability with the historical facts that are available for this time period.

The author also points out the fictional parts of each book as related to historical facts.

The audible narration of the characters was fantastic!!!

I truly have loved every book in the historical highland guard series! Including the others books that are related to the highland guard series!!!

If you enjoy highlander romances, these historical ones are highly recommended!!

Thank you to the author for many hours of nail biting entertainment.

Aloha

The Hunter and The Nun

Ewen The Hunter Lamont trying to stay under the radar, do his time in Robert's army and reap his rewards. That is until he meets a cheeky nun, or does he? Janet of Mar daughter to one of the greatest Earldoms in Scotland and sister-in-law to the King. Trying to redeem herself from a botched escape attempt. she begins to help the Scottish cause by spying and working as a courier. When these two meet fireworks fo off! Great adventure and Great love story. Great characters and a great love story as the first war for Scotlands Independence. I love Monica McCarthy. The mix of true historical facts with some minor name changes and twists, makes reading the books interesting and enjoyable. I love Scottish History especially the First War of Independence for Scotland. Robert the Bruce is a fascinating person in history and his story is one for the ages. Her introduction to a Highland Guard that acts like one of the first special forces is so entertaining. It is so believable that it makes me want to go back in time to see for myself.

Hunter meets “GI Jane” of medieval times

Janet, is a courier to Robert deBruce. She is an over confident, strong-willed and courageous woman. She believes herself invincible. Thus due to her arrogant attitude involves some of the Highland guard into situations of jeopardy. Hunter although injured is trying to keep her safe and alive. In one scene I almost cried maybe it would have been more interesting if the dog befriended them. Anthony Ferguson love your narration. Monica McCarty I am “binging” on the Highland Guard series thank you

Love this book and all the others in the series!

I love the books and I love the voice of the narrator, but I did not enjoy the Italian accent of the lead female the first few chapters of the book. It simply wasn't enjoyable. I don't blame the narrator, I love his voice in other books.
