About this listen

Jack Jenkins is a normal college student living in a world filled with super powered beings. Until one fateful day in the library throws his whole life into chaos. An ancient and beguiling cosmic visitor bonds with him, granting him extraordinary abilities. The only catch: he has to earn his powers like he was in a video game. And he has to learn on the fly.

Because right now a terrifying crime boss is moving in on Jack’s neighborhood. Jack has to do everything he can to stop him and protect his friends, family, and that cute girl from the library. He’ll have to level up as quickly as possible, because only his wits and fists stand between the Iron Count and total destruction.

But can he take down the Iron Count while balancing school, work, and some unconventional relationships? He’s sure going to try, as he steps into the Hero Game.

The Hero Game is a spicy LitRPG adventure for discerning adults.

Was hesitant to get this cause of the length, but it was definitely worth it. Fast moving story and was action packed and awesome.

Holy crap this was good.

This was fun and entertaining with a good amount of spice even if I don't like that the MC doesn't end threats permanently but oh well. and I actually I found kinda ironic that the worst spicy scene was when he finally made it to third base

Good one

Harem had no clue before listening. The story had promise without that aspect for me. Narrator performed the book excellent as well.

Did not realize

I wasn’t quite expecting the rpg elements but I do enjoy the authors spin on the system. Character writing could use some more development but the story didn’t feel bogged down by paper thin characters. The explicit scenes weren’t jarring which can be a problem for the genre, and I do hope we can continue exploring the characters. The only real issue I have was during text exchanges it was bogged down by all the character names and I felt it wasn’t necessary because the narrator did a good job at distinguishing character voices. Nitpicking perhaps but hoping we can improve upon it for possible audio sequels.

It’s quite fun

Juggling all the women trying to make sure they don’t find out about each other mostly, it sounds like a Player to most. That definitely should be the main characters super name in the future.

He should have gone with the hero name “The Player”

The characters need more development both emotionally and mentally. None of the characters really connected with each other, but they rush into everything. then there is the super powers...he doesn't have any. literally describes how humanity ranks with 9 being the best of the best and the hero starts with above average abilities with no real super powers. Worse, by the end of the book he has over 30 in strength...9 for best of humanity which by the way is in thousands lbs and this guy is basically 3 times that. I get this is supposed to be a litrpg, but come on, give him some power.

Emotionally weak

Terrific plot and character development. It has a great mix of action and sexy, raunchy scenes, hence the mature audience rating.
The narrator did a stellar performance on her voices for both female and male characters! I will listen to the next book with gusto. Thank you to August Aird for a fleshed out mc. I am also awaiting the audible version of your Pelican Tavern books. I wholeheartedly recommend the Hero Game.

Please stop reading due to spoilers- I am wondering if it was a typo or plot hole/mistake when Luna referred to the Boxer as Jack at the knucklehead base in chapter 13. The only logical explanation I could come up with is that the Boxer’s name- Jack may have displayed when he was sending and replying to messages to and from the Knuckleheads.

Really enjoyed this one. The narration was engaging and the story kept me hooked from start to finish. It had just the right mix of emotion, tension, and thought-provoking moments. Definitely worth a listen!

Awesome!

It had a great premise I don’t like the direction the author decided to take his story. The Harem aspect I thought was written like a teenage fantasy. Those scenes almost seemed out of place and passionless. It seemed so unnecessary to plot development.

Harem?
