An exciting adventure begins.

This is a superb beginning to what promises to be an excellent series. I have seen this plot device a few times before but never done as well as it was here. I very very much look forward to the next book.

Dune but with sex and dragons!

this book was relatively confusing and slightly hard to get into at first. it gets better later on though, much better. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in engaging storylines. it basically reminds me of dune but if it had a slightly watered down story and more fantasy elements

Fantasy with a plot twist

Good start to what could be a good series. The story really got my attention and not to put any spoilers it didn't end the way I thought it would. It ended with a whole lot of questions that I want to know the answers to. So I will definitely pick up the next book.

Check this one out

Right up front before you read any further just know that I recommend this book to anybody thinking about giving it a shot. A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor. I also try to make clear the distinction between the quality of the writing/performance of the author/narrator and my personal tastes should they differ. Our character primarily appears to me to be a dragon Prince of a sort who is destined to inherit quite a bit of land or Kingdom, I guess you could say. Due to the low birth rate of these Dragons who can take human form each has their own group of ladies who become wives. Of course, you have the normal noble requirements for which our character isn't very interested in. There is also at the beginning of the book a concern of a dragon somehow being born by humans who in this case or kind of the initial uh bad guy as you're starting out. I really don't want to go further into the story than that cause I don't want to risk anything for anybody, but I found it highly entertaining. In fact, I would say I am a fan of this author's other works. It appears that she just recently started doing audiobook stuff. The other story that has received the audio treatment is a trilogy called “Lost Fleet.” Seriously it's amazing and you definitely have to check it out. The second book for this specific story is already out in eBook form, but if you can't wait for it to get the audio treatment then definitely check out the other story. If you are into the eBook stuff, then I recommend you check out her story “Wrath of the Spider Queen” as well. Just be aware that it's on the darker side. Moving on to the narration team, I think they did a fantastic job with their performance. For them I would recommend “Ruby Mage” or “Haven.” Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Stellar Story, Awesome Acting

This book was a blast to listen to. The voice actors were experienced and vivid, and the story itself was top-tier. Wow.

I wish a lot more books out there had the care, detail, worldbuilding, and twists this one had.

Really enjoyable. Surprising conclusion too.

I really enjoyed this book and hope to read the next one soon. The development of the environment, history, traditions and well just everything was surprisingly amazing. The conclusion and the surprise revile was truly surprising. The voice actors did a great job acting out the people. I highly recommend this book.

The writing in this book is amazing. I have not been so floored by a plot line in a long time. The performances we excellent aswell.

Good Introduction to the Series

I really liked this story only if because it felt different or unique to me. Told from the perspective of a dragon about his past to the point of his betrayal. I felt the story depth and characters were great. The story starts off a bit slow, but it picks up quickly. I would recommend this book series to fans of the genre.

Ellory Lane and Ben Hart give a great narration performance.
