Acerca de esta escucha

There have been ghosts on the London Underground, sad, harmless specters whose presence does little more than give a frisson to traveling and boost tourism. But now there's a rash of sightings on the Metropolitan Line and these ghosts are frightening, aggressive, and seem to be looking for something.

Enter PC Peter Grant, junior member of the Metropolitan Police's Special Assessment Unit, AKA The Folly, AKA the only police officers whose official duties include ghost hunting. Together with Jaget Kumar, his counterpart at the British Transport Police, he must brave the terrifying crush of London's rush hour to find the source of the ghosts.

Joined by Peter's wannabe wizard cousin, a preschool river god, and Toby the ghost hunting dog, their investigation takes a darker tone as they realize that a real person's life might just be on the line.

And time is running out to save them.

The characters in this book are well developed. Would love to see more. I may have listened to all of them.

Love this authors books

One of the wittiest and most interesting crime series, but probably best to start at the beginning with Rivers of London aka Midnight Riot. Only criticism is that it is a bit short.

Excellent supernatural police procedural

Loved it! No major Peter Grant jeopardy but a good ghost story and a little Abigail. I love seeing her in the stories.

A fun low stakes mystery

Once again, Aaronovitch brings his world of magic, fairies, wizards, ghosts and the Metropolitan Police Department’s finest to solve a case of abduction using police procedural and the powerful unseen forces of spirit, connection and love.

Imagination Supreme

The combi action of spot-on writing and the reader's co.mand of the dialog and dialects makes this series a joy to listen to.

love this series!

The Furthest Station is so smooth you take for granted Ben Aaronovitch's excellently written story and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith's superb narration.

Vivid, engaging, three dimensional characters? Check. Amusing dialog and clever asides? Check. The introduction of fascinating magical creatures and things? Check. Encapsulated in an intriguing mystery that will leave you satisfied at its close and wanting more? Check.

And there will be more. Soon. There's several references to the events in What Abigail Did Last Summer and we finally get to learn about it in March of 2021. Woot! Abigail's brief interaction with the talking foxes in The Furthest Station piqued my curiosity big time and now there's a whole adventure with them just around the corner. I'm looking forward to its release even more.

Another terrific Rivers of London adventure

This novella could mostly stand alone, although it assumes you already know things, like how the various rivers of London support gods and goddesses. Not as ghoulish as some of the full length books, this one focuses mostly on Peter as he investigates a mystery the traditional way: by pounding the pavement and interviewing people. Only, the real witnesses here are the ghosts. There’s also a few bread crumbs laid out for Abigail’s path in future books.

Magic and wit are dryly delivered, some times so subtly that you don’t even notice you’ve gone from standard police procedural to hocus pocus. But, that’s part of what I love about this series: the jazzy detective noir vibe, perfectly delivered by narrator Kobna Holbrook-Smith.

Traditional investigation, untraditional witnesses

I enjoyed the story and did not miss the Gore that is in a lot of the books in the series.

Good. Less violent than others in the series.

Novellas and short stories take talent. The plot is delightful! Even the colors are vivid! And, create a continuity of drabness and opaqueness to the 'world of ghosts' . Well done - I love this series, especially the narration.

Enchanting
