About this listen

What happened to Peter’s first family?

His wife, his children—all of them are dead, and rumors swirl around Peter himself as the culprit.

My name is Aubree Van Lullen, once whispered about for all the wrong reasons. But that was before Peter Woodley entered my life, a man accused of the unthinkable—murdering his family. The gravity of his past should have frightened me away, but instead, I found myself pulled closer. A kinship of two souls wronged by the misconception given by the world.

He expounded his innocence. And now I’ve built my own family with him.

We did our best to leave our shadowed past behind. That is until the journals of Peter's first wife land in my hands. Each page unravels a mystery that I can't escape, a trail of deaths with Peter at the center. And now the question looms bigger than before—what really happened to his family? And will it happen to mine?

From NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY, & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Addison Moore comes a riveting novel of psychological suspense.

Cosmopolitan Magazine calls Addison's books, "...easy, frothy fun!"

Aubree Van Lullen is smitten by Peter Woodley despite the fact he’s accused of killing his former wife, despite the fact he’s accused of killing his two children.

Peter Woodley is smitten by Aubree Van Lullen despite the fact she is accused of fleecing half of the country by way of faking an illness for the better part of her life, despite the fact she’s had a psychologically damaging childhood.

Peter is so smitten by Aubree, he changes his identity for her and whisks her away to build a brand new life.
A mysterious package arrives containing dozens of journals from Peter’s first wife, and Aubree is riveted by them.

She’ll tell Peter about the journals soon enough. Just one more page and then he can have them.

And then there are the bodies. One after another, wherever Peter seems to go, a grisly homicide takes place.

Something is amiss. Aubree untangles one dark secret after another, only to have her own past come back to haunt her.

But it’s far from the end of her story. It’s just the horrible beginning.

Sometimes when a supposed serial killer and a supposed psychopath come together, things can end very very badly. And they do—one bloody body at a time.

When a rumored serial killer and a rumored psychopath come together, things end very very badly—one bloody body at a time.
Someone is guilty.
Someone is lying.
Someone will not survive.

AI should never narrate a book

Great story, but AI narrating was horrible and made it very confusing at times. Some times it was so bad that I had to go back and re-listen to fully understand what was happening. I really hope AI does not become more common on audible, it really should not be used to narrate audiobooks.

No more virtual voice

The few stories I have listened to with virtual voice have been lessened because of the performance. No change in tone or voices makes it hard to figure out which characters are speaking.
What a disservice to an engaging story!

Virtual reader is horrible.

I do not like the virtual reader. The inflections are all wrong, voice doesn’t change for different characters, words pronounced incorrectly. Not a fan at all.
