About this listen

Till death do us part…

Luke Whitney is stabbed to death. His wife Anna confesses after she is found next to his lifeless body. But if she did it, why can't she confirm any of the details of the crime?

As police dig into the circumstances, they learn that the victim was a liar, a cheat and a narcissist. More than one person had a reason to want him dead; his scorned ex, his neglected mistress and Anna – who knows what happens to Mrs Whitneys when Luke gets bored of them.

Luke Whitney had it coming. But who made sure he got what he deserved?

The latest twisty, propulsive psychological thriller from international bestseller Jenny Blackhurst. Perfect for fans of Adele Parks, Claire Douglas and Shari Lapena.

The Final Wife by Jenny Blackhurst is the kind of thriller that doesn’t just pull you in—it wraps around you like a storm you didn’t see coming. From the first scene—Anna standing over her husband’s lifeless body, unable to remember what happened—I was hooked.

This isn’t your typical whodunit. It’s more like a who-can-you-trust, with tension layered so thick you feel it in your chest. Just when you start to trust a character, the ground shifts. Every revelation hits like a sharp gasp in the dark.

The way Blackhurst unravels Anna’s fractured memory alongside Detective Rebecca Dance’s sharp, no-nonsense investigation is brilliant. Each chapter peels back a layer of deceit, obsession, and carefully concealed truths. You’ll find yourself asking, “What really happened that night?” right up until the final twist.

And the narration? Absolutely on point. The voice actors breathe life into every character—Anna’s confusion and fear, Rebecca’s determination, and even the quieter characters hiding knives behind their smiles. It’s gripping, emotional, and wonderfully paced.

This book had me walking extra laps just so I could keep listening. If you’re craving a twisty, character-driven thriller that doesn’t play by the rules, The Final Wife delivers—and then some.

One of the characters loves Agatha Christie and it shows in this novel. It's a really clever "murder mystery" without a sadistic serial killer who is attacking everybody including thr familes of the cops.
There are numerous twists and turns and I could not stop listening to it.
I cannot wait to see what is next

Well-crafted mystery that will keep you guessing.

Definitely did not anticipate the ending to this book. I hope this is part of a series because I would love to hear more of the storyline of the main characters progress.

*** 3.5 Stars Rounded Up ***

Mixed feelings on this one. The first part of this book was truly unremarkable for me. It did, however, redeem itself in the second half. Definitely a psychological thriller with a few good twists.
