About this listen

Lutz finally finds a place in the elven lands where he's been accepted, despite his title of False Hero. He works tirelessly to protect the elven forest from a deadly disease and a rampaging horde of demons. But just as he puts a stop to the plans of Chaos to summon an army at the elves' doorstep, he receives a pleading message from Princess Lumina.

The Orakian Kingdom's capital city of Roshar is under siege, and the walls have been breached. Fearing the end of her country, Lumina requests help from Lutz using the artifact he gave to her when they last parted. She follows his orders, heading to her private chambers to use yet another artifact give to her by Lutz. When she casts the spell held within, a teleportation circle appears on the ground. Immediately after, Lutz, Laya, Alisha, Belle, and Tylith all appear before the shocked princess.

For the first time since his escape from the dungeon, the False Hero has returned to the castle.

Another Awesome Sequel

When it comes to a sequel, I am personally looking for everything that made the last book worth it and then some. In my opinion that is this book. Here I am at the end of volume 6 and as always find I have a craving for more. Fortunately, the author does have a Patreon where he uploads chapters of the next volume ahead of the release so that if you just cannot wait you can go there. The caveat is that things can change between what's posted on Patreon and what makes it into the final cut. Last time around I wasn't able to “hold my horses” and as such blazed through the 1st 34 chapters of volume 6 on Patreon before life got in the way. I would also recommend checking out the gentleman's website for any additional information you may be interested in (the false hero dot com). It is something that I've started to do when I come across an author who is writing a series that I'm particularly fond of. The first part of volume 6 is dominated by our hero and company fighting off the evil invasion of the capital city of humanity. The second part sees our hero fighting in a gladiatorial Colosseum where death is a very real possibility. The “devil” is in the details and there certainly is a lot more to the story than that, but I really don't want to risk spoiling anything. I look forward to the next release date especially for the audio. We got another fantastic performance from Mason Born. If you have just now come across this gentleman author and the story of “The False Hero” then I recommend you checking out the box set which includes volumes one through three and is available both in audio or eBook form. When time permits, I'm probably going to start back at book 1 and binge my way through the series. One more thing, you should definitely check out the eBook as there is a ton of artwork in them. I'm a huge fan of the amount and quality of the artwork that's added to the eBooks. It's one of the reasons why I get both the eBook and the audiobook. Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Enjoyable story

Story is enjoyable and I’m sure for a single narration, this is an “ok” performance. But after being spoiled with dual narration books it’s really really difficult to go back to books with a single narrator doing 2 genders. They only reason I still buy these are because I was invested. I never buy anything without dual narration now.

Just an amazing, satisfying tale!

Bravo, Author Plymel! The False Hero is one of those rare stories that is not what it appears to be. N it’s face, a story of a man from Earth, plucked from an unfulfilling life only to rise to heroic proportions in a new and unfamiliar environment. Same plot from a thousand other stories. But what sets this series apart from all the others are the sudden 180° shifts away from the expected events; instead of being the hero, the young man is branded a herald of doom and sentenced to death. Narrowly escaping with his life, he hides away, planning and plotting how to survive, get stronger, and - if possible - seek his revenge. He survives, gathers loyal companions, and grows stronger - much stronger. The adventures, and the dynamic between companions was totally unexpected, but sheer joy to read. This tale is certainly a gem, and one I’m happy to add to my permanent collection.

At first, I was a bit doubtful of Mason Born’s ability to carry off a story like this one. There were lapses in delivery - in cadence, clarity, and energy - in the early episodes, but he’s absolutely grasped this tale and made it his. His performances have grown in quality and depth, with this last performance in book six being his very best thus far. I truly appreciate his cheeky confidence when portraying Lutz, the excitable, childlike mannerisms of Alicia, and the diminutive monotones of Leah. My favorite, though, is the slinky haughtiness of Tyleth. But the common theme is the energy Mr. Born brings to his performances. It truly raises the level of enjoyment in The False Hero.

the book is great and story telling os great and the prefirmence is really good. unfortunetly the quallity of the recording was n0ot stable and sometime tend to me a little more muffely. and sometime the editing cit in a little on the wrong timing but it is almost not noticable.

over all is great but the recodring was a little unstable but it is not hearding the expirience much
