About this listen

New York Times best seller

Erin Sterling casts a delightful spell with a spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and hexes gone wrong.

“A delightful and witty take on witchy mayhem.” (Popsugar)

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

A cute story but lackluster narration

The story was fun and cute. But what kept taking me out of the story was the narration. One of the main characters is Welsh and the narrator only occasionally did the accent. Most of his dialogue was done in an American accent which made all the British-isms very strange to hear.

Fun, quick read!

The narrator isn’t the best but I was able to get past her weird teeth clenched narration and enjoy the story.

Great Second Chance

Loved this fun, witchy mystery HEA. Perfect story with a nice pace and great narration.

Had Higher Expectations

The narration was phenomenal. The story was lacking. Wish I hadn't expected more from this book.

I don’t get all the hate

I read good reviews on the book but almost didn’t purchase because of all the negative reviews regarding the narrator. I’m glad I listened to the sample and gave it a shot bc I didn’t find it bad at all. Was it the best? No. I always prefer female/male narrators, especially when there’s supposed to be an accent (there isn’t) but it didn’t turn me off the book at all. She did good. And the story line was cute. I’ll be reading Part #2 next.

Narration is shite

This title had high reviews overall for story. The narrator however leaves much to be desired. At Chapter 9, and I’m invested in the story but hate that 95% of the dialogue has the female lead ending every line sounding like a question. Also, a weird sounding accent for the female… dontcha know?

Terrible narration

This has been mentioned multiple times in other reviews, but the narration is terrible. It makes the sex scenes that much worse. Overall, it’s not terribly written and is well paced.

I didn't enjoy this one

I didn't feel any chemistry between the main characters, I only liked the cat who ends up talking.

Intolerable Narration

I don’t want to beat a dead horse as it seems everyone else has made a comment about the narrator, but it is so bad. Story is very cute, but narrator sounds like Robotic Jennifer Coolidge talking through her teeth. Weird inflections, making everything a question, no welsh accent, etc. very distracting

Great story, wrong narrator

I loved this story! Laugh-out-loud funny, great world-building, and good character development. I loved the second chance romance, the curse - all of it. But the narrator wasn’t the right fit for this story. Rhys is Welsh… and the narrator just does an American accent the whole time. It’s really jarring to hear all these British-isms being read out without the right accent.
