About this listen

In The Divine Conspiracy, Dallas Willard gracefully weaves biblical teaching, popular culture, science, scholarship, and spiritual practice into a tour de force that shows the necessity of profound change in how we view our lives and faith.

In an era in which many Christians consider Jesus a beloved but remote savior, Willard argues compellingly for the relevance of God to every aspect of our existence. Masterfully capturing the central insights of Christ's teachings in a fresh way for today's seekers, he helps us to explore a revolutionary way to experience God by knowing him as an essential part of the here and now, rather than only as part of the hereafter.

Content and delivery, superb!

A long time favorite work of Dallas Willard, I decided to listen to the Divine Conspiracy this time around. It did not disappoint! The narrator dictated the text just as I imagined Willard might have done when writing it. As far as the content, what could I say to capture the brilliance of Dallas Willard as he navigates the sermon on the mount, the prophecies of Isaiah, and the philosophers both modern and ancient, as he makes the case that the Kingdom of God is a not only an idea of some futuristic destination, but a way of life available to us now. In enacting the Kingdom way in our lives now, we discover the treasure of the flourishing life. A must read (listen) for everyone desiring to follow Jesus!

So interesting

I was never that interested in learning about the bible for the first 60 years of my life but I got into a bible study at the beginning of the lockdown and now I drive over an hour to go to a church where I am free to not wear a mask and can listen to an expert educate many, many people like me who are able to hear with unstopped ears. I love Jesus now and this audible book is helping me catch up with all I have been missing. I highly recommend the part about sex if you don't want to listen to all of it. It is near the 7 hour and 30 minutes mark, if I remember correctly.

Imperative reading

The importance of this book to modern Christianity can not be over looked. If you have questioned the work and mission of church in the modern world, then you must hear what the good Professor Willard has to say.

A must read

An outstanding exposition of the Kingdom of God. Providing insights into the teachings of Jesus not previously understood. Wish I had read this years ago.

Solid read, profound insight into spiritual life

Christianity isn’t a religion, it’s a relationship, a walk with the Lord, a journey with Christ. Dallas Willard does a great job of diving into Scripture and pulling out some gems on how to live out that spiritual life today - a must-read for those wanting to mature in their faith and draw closer to God!

God Bless Dallas Willard

I've read The Divine Conspiracy twice and just finished listening to it in audiobook format, as well. And it won't be the last time I enjoy it. Dallas Willard, and this masterpiece, rank up there with Tozer and Nee and Lewis to me. I am so grateful to whoever introduced it to me.

Just discovered Dallas Willard

On vacation in an AirBnB, I found a book on the shelf about the life of Dallas Willard, and it piqued my curiosity about his writings. This is the second of his books I’ve either read or listened to since then, and my spiritual life has been enriched and challenged as a result. Most of this book is a meditation on the Sermon on the Mount, and it is profound and moving. The soul is drawn here to Kingdom life, lived as a disciple of Christ—and though I’ve been a serious Christian for almost 40 years, Willard challenged me to consider anew what it would look like to REALLY follow Jesus. What could be a better use of time?
