Acerca de esta escucha

The last command Jesus gave the church before he ascended to heaven was the Great Commission, the call for Christians to "make disciples of all the nations.

"But Christians have responded by making "Christians", not "disciples". This, according to brilliant scholar and renowned Christian thinker Dallas Willard, has been the church's Great Omission.

One need only attend many local churches for any length of time to see why many find no use for church, or Christianity as most have experienced it. How deeply sad. I encourage all not to dismiss Christ based on the poor representation of some. He is most worthy of worship and truly amazing to know.

Transform in Christ or conform to Christianity?

It would be a great omission if you didn’t read this book by Dallas Willard.

Great omission

Mortimer J. Adler, in his classic How to Read a Book, refers to those few, very rare books that are well worth reading over and over. This is without reservation one of those rare gems. And not just to read, but to use as a faithful compass. Willard gathers and synthesizes millennia of the most cogent wisdom in the practical matter of following Jesus as He intended to be followed.

A Rare Read

Motivating and encouraging on so many levels. Loved the length and depth things were explained and the constant references for further reading on deep subjects.

unfathomable depths that are worth the dive.

This should be reading undertaken by any and all who identify as a follower of Jesus. The clarity of what Jesus expects of all who believe couldn't be made more clear. I must start within and allow Him to bring the increase.

For All, Our Call

A journey into the purpose and practice of discipleship. Too many great insights to list. Be prepared to read and reread this spiritual masterpiece.

As for the quality of the recording, it is really good and I am a fan of Grover Gardner, who also did "The Pursuit of God" by Tozer

The book is excellent as well, weather you are a pastor our just trying to deepen your relationship with God. He basically says that we (North American Christians) are shaped by our culture of consumer christianity whereas we should instead be seeking to imitate the image of Jesus as an apprentice (disciples).

He did not write this book explicitly, but it is a collection of his writings and sermons. I am glad I purchased and listened to this book and it has helped me get a better picture of what true church looks like. It reminds me to similar books such as "Radical", "The Persuit of God" and "Don't waste your life". I would also highly recommend "Power through Prayer" By EM Bounds

Saying what needs to be said.

This text outlines the path of spiritual formation; start with solitude and prayer. The goal is true discipleship of Messiah Yeshua (Jesus the Christ). The place and context of spiritual discipline is explained. Multiple rereads are very likely.

Riviting for one investigating Spiritual Formation

As usual, Dr. Willard's insights helped me see my walk with Christ more clearly. His observations about what Dietrich Bonheffer called "cheap grace" are timely. the Christian church in America is focused on making converts rather than on making disciples as Jesus commanded in His Great Commission.

Dallas Willard on a crucial topic.

Succinct and deep at the same time. A masterpiece collection from one of our most towering recent thinkers.
