About this listen

"The secret of time-traveling into the future, would be found in the past...."

When George d’Clare receives the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, he and his wife. Madison. organize a support group. This noble endeavor eventually leads them to meeting a strange man with an incredible story - a captivating tale about a device that could transport a person into the future and return them safely to the present. His far-fetched account also comes with an equally fantastic offer: to help him in a daring plan to use the device to bring back the cure for the disease. Thinking the man suffers from dementia, George dismisses him as delusional.

But when the strange man is later killed in a deliberate hit-and-run, the couple embarks on a search for the truth about the device, beginning with the perfectly handwritten diary he left behind. They soon discover that they are involved in a deadly cat-and-mouse chase through time, whose origin dates back to the final days of World War II and to a highly classified Nazi operation, codenamed “Firebird".

Could there actually be a device capable of time travel? And if so, can George and Madison find it in time to stop the next phase of the inconceivable Firebird plan?

Great story topic sabotaged

The story topic was great but was sabotaged by the writer. He treated his heroic characters all as victims. Very sad with little hope. The ending was too little too late.

Good story

Good story and likeable characters. Maybe a little longer than it needed to be and, at times, a bit hard to follow as the plot bounces around in time. Overall enjoyable.

Amazing intellect for the storyline!

The authors past/present story line approach and his perceived knowledge on the technology or the topic matter is very good, a very good listen

Excellent standalone sci-fi book

I was looking for a time travel tale that was not the first in a series or, worse yet, the first book of three trilogies. This was great! So creative and well-written. The story kept moving with characters one cares about. The ending — wow! Thanks to Dale C. George for The Device. Hunter Elliott did a great job with narration.

Time-travel and WW2

If you like time travel books and WWII history, this is a combination of the two; the characters themselves are fictitious. I enjoyed this book.

Clever Story

Enjoyed the ride and characters. The time travel part was different from many other stories. Liked the weave of different eras. The end was weak compared to 99% of the rest.

Something different.

While time travel is not knew, the story was a knew take on it. Keep in mind there is a lot of back and fourth on different years, but pay attention and it will not confuse you.
