Better than I thought it was going to be.

The first book was just okay but the later books were good and got better. He does a really good job of keeping the time travel consistent. I didn't notice any paradoxes in any of the stories. I hope he writes more in this universe.

Started strong and sputtered out

The story had a great intro and was strong through the first two books. The third book was weird and weak. I struggled to finish it. The love story was distracting and did nothing to help the story. If anything, it was an annoying side bar that had me skipping past those “scenes”. The idea and detail to time travel was fascinating.

Entertaining - Though Fairly Juvenile

In this set, Van Coops's novels feature a protagonist in his late 20s who has the maturity of a 15-year-old. This, alone, should not disqualify him from being an interesting character, and it doesn't. However, it did strain the relationship with this listener.

This is a fanciful time-travel saga ["Don't mess with time-travel, Morty!"]. Ben and his friends are accidentally sent to 1986, from 2009, by a lightning strike. From there, they learn about how the means to travel through time was developed by a scientist, who, in 1986, is in deadly peril from which they must save him. Four books grow out of this premise, Although I had to pause to "cleanse my pallet" and enjoy another book in between, I was not sorry to come back and finish the set. Once I was aware of the contrived machinations and limitations of Dr. Quickly's time machines, I put less pressure on the story to make sense, and concentrated more on enjoying the adventures and relationships between the characters. I enjoyed the evolving romance between Ben and Dr. Quickly's daughter, Mim. Ben's apparent inexperience with, and inability to grasp many common time-travel fiction concepts, becomes tiresome at the beginning. So does his very dumb, inappropriate responses to situations that should demand sober and mindful comprehension. But, that characterization of Ben is an honest one. If any author wishes to portray people as they usually are, people are usually dumb.

Neil Hellegers's narration was OK. His articulation was excellent, and his differentiation of characters was adequate. However, during straight narrative text, his emotional intensity was entirely too strong for the material, which put me off quite a bit. I got used to it over time, and stuck with it for 61 hours. His overemotional read reminded me of Burt Ward's verbal delivery as "Robin" in the '60s "Batman" TV series.

very interesting

this story caught my attention very quickly namely because I lived in St Pete Florida for 20 years so it was fun trying to picture the places being talked about as they bounced in and out of St Pete Plus who doesn't like time travel stories besides weirdos lol

The concept of the story was great, the application not so great.

Could have been great books but the story got bogged down with useless details that went nowhere. I would read more books from this author to see if he gets better.

Really good!

I enjoyed this audio book very much. It’s several great time-travel tales — good story plots, very well written, and narrated professionally with precision. Don’t let other reviews knocking the performance dissuade you from trying the books in this mega boxed set… I was very impressed with Mr. Hellegers renditions of the various characters herein, and I would gladly listen to him perform other works. Additionally at 60 some-odd hours for a single credit I haven’t yet seen a better value on Audible :-)

Great story, irritating narration

Overall an amazing and engaging story. And while I have massive respect for voice actors who have to consistently do multiple voices, and This voice actor did a good job with that, the DRAMATIC tone he uses throughout the entire story was distracting and off putting. Not every. Single. Sentence. Needs to be read as an intense moment with lives hanging in the balance.

You would like this if you like a gentle, soft story that is sci-fi

This is a long run adventure story. Not enough action for me, but for those who like a soft story that just keeps you listening for many many many many chapters, this will be for you.

Kept my attention the whole time

I chose these books because of the length of them all together. I listen to audiobooks constantly and these kept my attention the whole time.

Loved this series

Th action in this series never stopped, my favorite book was the chronathon book 2 but I truly loved every book.
