When the end of the world arrived, it came not with a bang, as most expected, but with more of a "pfft" instead. Humanity has been torn asunder and brought to the edge of total annihilation in less than an hour. For those who died, it was a quick death, so fast that their brains didn't have time to process the pain signals from their nerves. For those who survived, the true horror is about to begin as they struggle to not only stay alive, but come to grips with the shocking realization about what - and who - was responsible.

Story
In the beginning, the gods destroyed the world. Five hundred years later, things haven’t gotten much better for humans. The demigods that were left behind to guard over humanity have been using them as fodder for an endless civil war between themselves, and the humans just go on dutifully slaughtering each other, battle after battle. It’s not all bad, though. Perry McGown makes his living off those bloody, stinking battlefields. He works on a crew that reclaims all the spent shell casings. But if anyone found out that he was a deserter from the war, he’d be executed for heresy.

Story
The Carnacki institute exists to do something about ghosts. Lay them to rest, send them packing, or kick their nasty ectoplasmic arses with extreme prejudice. The institute’s operatives are the best of the best. JC Chance: sharp, brave, charming, and almost unbearably arrogant; Melody Chambers: science geek, techno-wizard extraordinaire who keeps the antisupernatual equipment running smoothly; and Happy Jack Palmer: the telepath with the gloomy disposition, the last person anyone would want navigating through their head.

The audio is off otherwise the book is perfect
First time I've ever gotten a book with audio issues of this type.
So I've purchased I.G. Hulme's The Dead Man's Feast after purchasing The Heavenfield audiobook. I loved The Heavenfield Podcast and was delighted to learn this was a book series, the author is quite talented. I purchased and listened to the first book without an issue and upon finishing the first book (for continuities sake) I immediately started the second book (today) only to realize there are some audio issues, which became apparent in Chapter 1.
In Chapter 1 there are what I can only describe as a hard break in the recording. There are the noisy breaks/pauses. I only mention them because they're clearly not sound effects, etc., which is what I initially thought.
Ive made a short, incomplete list of the pauses/noisy breaks for chapter 2. I haven't finished the book. I don't think I'll be returning it at this point. The first book was just too good and I can't pass this one up.
