A Multi-faceted Exploration of "Social Isolation"

I didn't expect to see a deep family drama exploring the many types of social isolation in the Covid19 era published quite so soon! The Cuckoo's Cry is a moving revelation of family secrets and personal tragedies within the confines of class, sex, and social mores. The characters are appealing and finely drawn. The plot grabs your attention and doesn't let go. I laughed and cried--sometimes at the same time. All this in an absorbing drama running under five hours. Bravo!

(P.S. Thanks, too, for the new, softer female voice instead of Audible's former explosive tagline at the end!)

Nice story. Excellent narrator.

Set in the time of Covid 19, this is a well written, feel good mystery novel. A heartwarming story.
I found this a great story to listen too, while falling asleep. The narrator was pleasant sounding, and soft spoken.
I listened to this story a second time, as knowing the mystery girl’s background made gave me additional insight during the second listening.

I searched for additional books along this line, by both the author and narrator. I would definitely purchase those books. Unfortunately, though books by both the author and narrator are available, did not interest me,

Good plot. Easy listening

Loved that the reader had an Australian accent to match the setting of the book. She also did a great job with the voices. Very enjoyable to listen to.

True to era and the current generation. Loved the readers, too. I also related to each character as described.

Fun listen!

Simple story. Some surprises. Not very deep either in character exposition or description. Just a fun distraction for listening while dog walking. I generally prefer literary fiction - and this is not that. But overall, I enjoyed the story.

Wow -better than I expected!

This story has far richer characters and plot than I expected. I found myself thinking of this story in between listening and I was loathe to shut it off when I had to do other things. This is a great story and it hits home on several of today’s fronts.
