About this listen

Three novellas and an unforgettable short story, now available together in one festive package!

"A Cowboy for Christmas" by Katherine Garbera. Annie Prudhomme never expected to be back in Marietta, Montana, and her family is fond of reminding her that she left them and the town behind in search of better things. A humiliating divorce that cost her everything she'd gained has driven her back home, and her family isn't about to welcome her back into the fold. She's in town to rebuild the old home that she inherited and to move on once again.

"Christmas at Copper Mountain" by Jane Porter. Since the loss of her family in a plane crash, Harley Diekerhoff has led a quiet life and keeps to herself. Taking the temporary job at the Copper Mountain Ranch as widower Brock Sheenan's housekeeper seems perfect for her. But her calm cocoon is invaded with the arrival of Brock's preteen twins, Mack and Molly, who've never experienced a proper Christmas, and before she knows it Harley's determined to make their holiday perfect.

"Home for Christmas" by Melissa McClone. Ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Rachel Murphy loves the scent of gingerbread baking almost as much as she enjoys creating custom edible houses at Christmastime. But she needs a bigger kitchen if she wants to make the most of her impromptu holiday business. Enter Nate Vaughn, handsome venture capitalist turned Montana dude ranch owner - and her brother's boss.

"Mistletoe Magic" by Melissa McClone. Spending a quiet Christmas housesitting and reading novels about hot cowboys sounds perfect to Caitlin. Until a stray kitten brings her face to face with Noah, her crush from college. Watching the handsome vet in action melts Caitlin's heart and brings back long-forgotten emotion. She would be safer back at the house, lost in the pages of a book. But a toe-curling mistletoe kiss tempts her to stay. Maybe she won't be spending this Christmas...alone.

Fantastic collection!

Each of these books is fantastic! Very well narrated as well. While Melissa McClone was already at the top of my favorites list for sweet romance, Jane Porter is now right at the top of that list as well, and Garbera not far behind! Be warned, however, if you prefer clean romance because two of these authors' stories (excluding McClone's) are not 'clean romance' but those slightly steamy sections are easily skipped if you prefer to. All in all, an incredibly satisfying small town, Montana sweet romance Christmas collection with all the feels and all the magic of the holidays.

Real love at its best,

What a wonderful Christmas series! Thanks and appreciation to all of you that were involved with the production these heartwarming stories. I was feeling very down due to family separation during this pandemic. This series uplifted me and the Christmas tree was going to stay in the attic got taken downs and put up! I would recommend this read to everyone! Don’t miss out!

A mixed bag. Books 2- 4 good, book 1 not so good.

2 stars = "A Cowboy for Christmas" by Katherine Garbera. The basis for plot was good, cute 2nd chance love for the girl that got away. This is the sexiest most descriptive of the 4 books. A few details contradicted each other. I was never able to like either character, both were selfish in different ways but they felt sorry for themselves and it was appalling. The biggest downfall was the constant repetition of their internal dialog -'should I or should I' got old because it seemed it was the only trick the writer knew to drag I tension into the love affair. It felt disingenuous as if it was done only to lengthen the story rather than enhance it. I was exhausted of it by chapter 6 with all the back and forth. Big pass on this one for me.

BEGAN AT CHAPTER 10
5 STARS - "Home for Christmas" by Melissa McClone. My favorite story in this boxed set. Though not a unique plot, sister falls for brothers best friend,, it was told exceptionally well. The reason for the apprehension of falling for each other WAS unique and believable.. The build of attraction was quick but the resistance was understandable. The arc of angst was setup well and I could relate to both characters misgivings. But of course it resolves and presents a HEA in a special and cute way. I think I appreciated this story best because though developed neither character lost who they were. The distinctive details were revealed with good timing and kept the story interesting without over reminding the reader why the characters were keeping themselves at bay. (It also keeps this story very clean, btw). Very enjoyable read.

BEGAN AT CHAPTER 20
5 stars - An adorable short story! Then again given it consists of 2 long lost college sweethearts who meet again as Veterinarian and kitten rescuer how could it not be, right?

BEGAN AT CHAPTER 21
4 stars - "Christmas at Copper Mountain" by Jane Porter. Unique plot. Heartwrenching and heartfelt. A bit sexy, a lot romantic!  I knocked off 1 star because I was disappointed the way the author choose to weaken the heroine, Hadley, by adding a twist to her previous marriage. It was not needed and did nothing ruined the equality of 2 widows finding love the 2nd time around. Full disclosure I had previously read the stand alone, enjoyed it so much that it got me interested in the multiple series & the town of Marrietta.

The narration was very good. I have heard Ms. Rawlins read several times before. She is very expressive, and articulates the right inflection at the right time. Although the recording is a little too fast & high I slow it down to .9 and all is perfect.

Overall 2-4 books are worthwhile. Although, I worry about the curse of Marrietta as it appears EVERY character has had either a terrible upbringing or a devastating tragedy. Do the normal 2 parent, raised in happy household, void of deep seeded emotionally scarred singles not need to find love or do they not exist in Marrietta? Hopefully it's not a town of damaged morose people. LOL!
