Publisher's summary

Vera Elpis is a quiet young woman with a desk job, two friends, and a cozy apartment. On the surface, her life is easy. Children adore her, her inheritance sustains her, and she is safe. The only blight is her unexplained infertility, a condition that shames and enrages her.

In her lonely quest for motherhood, Vera fails to appreciate her own peculiarity. What happened before she moved here? How does she always know the weather forecast? And why doesn’t her cousin Jennifer, an executive at a secretive tech firm, trust her?

The Control Problem tells of a woman who learns she is less than she thought and more than she realized. Who will she become when her goal is lost? What path will she take?

WOW

Wow!
Mystery, science, current events, human interest, human experiment, social concerns, parenting, so many facets to this book.
Not knowing what to expect I was a little slow catching on in the beginning if you’re like me, don’t give up, keep reading!
We follow our main character, Vera, via her diary entries, her descriptions of her co-workers and her friends and life memories and/ or lack of. I kept guessing what would happen next and the writer threw another twist. A few times I became anxious for our Vera, had to take a break from reading because again I thought I knew what was going to happen. In the end I was all wrong.
Now I know I told you nothing about the plot because if I did, I fear I would give the book away. But it is a new and interesting plot line, sprinkled with great observations of mankind in general along with many witty rejoinders. (Chemical warfare with their perfume)
So descriptive, makes me wish I was patient enough to keep a diary myself.
Narration by the author was great. Vera’s sadness, sorrow, longing comes across via the author’s words and intonation. The ending was not what I was hoping for, but I guess it was what it had to be. You will not be disappointed if you read this book and I definitely recommend you get the audible version.

Read this wonderful story twice for maximum enjoyment!

There are so many layers to this patient, clever story. Norah did an amazing job with the performance and I saw how much work she put into it!
