What is the boy crisis?

Beat book I’ve read in years

Farrell explains that nearly every social problem we face as a clot try boils down to not equal parenting and that boys who hurt hurt us.

It was just the other day on social media where I was advocating on behalf of my two daughters and jokingly said, "I'm not worried about my boys... I just have to feed them, get them to practice, and keep them from knocking girls up." Then this book slapped me in my face, followed by an uppercut, and finished with a devastating squirrel tap to my manhood. I - like most everyone else for the past forty years - have so genuinely cared about the future of our girls, that we forgot about our boys. How wrong I was, and Farrell and Gray (of, Men are From Mars..., infamy) had no problem providing the evidence and the cure; but will we listen.

After the introduction and first two chapters, I was already recommending this book to my brother and his wife who just had a son, my wife, my parents who already have raised three kids, my in-laws who have already raised five (with one possible "failure to launch"), my friends, my Soldiers, my neighbors, parents on my kids' sports teams, random strangers, anyone who'll listen, etc.. Then, throughout the rest of the book, I couldn't stop talking about it and the revelations within.

This is one of my most valued books in my audible library (378 books with nearly 20% on psychology) and I'll listen to it over and over. I'm also purchasing the kindle version as well as a physical copy for referencing. I normally listen at 3x speed and had no issues with this narration; both authors narrate.

Such an important read!

An interesting, topical, and mostly vital book; I can’t recommend it enough. I’ll be buying this in book form so that I can refer to it often.

Lot of good info

A lot of great info, only downside is it could have been shorter in places. The adhd part at the end could have been a separate book.

Essential listening for any parent.

Dr. Farrell's depiction of where parenting has landed in 2019 is so spot-on. It's alarming how quickly boys are slipping between the cracks only to find there's a chasm already existing between them and their fathers, In many cases---the relationship would flourish if there was no interference, as several examples are given in "The Boy Crisis" including solutions for all of them.

This book reinforces the importance of the paternal presence, one that comes naturally to any caring father, as this book encourages those in this position to embrace the paternal role.

It's vital to pay attention to this work.

Wonderfully informative

Everything I thought it would be. I've been wanting to read The Boy Crises for a while. Glad I've gotten around to it. Listening I've more accepted and understand where I am in life and how to make it better. A must read. Going to reread to absorb more. so much information.
