About this listen

Framed in the doorway of Hercule Poirot's bedroom stands an uninvited guest, coated from head to foot in dust. The man stares for a moment, then he sways and falls.

Who is he? Is he suffering from shock or just exhaustion? Above all, what is the significance of the figure 4, scribbled over and over again on a sheet of paper? Poirot finds himself plunged into a world of international intrigue, risking his life - and that of his twin brother - to uncover the truth.

Definitely different than other works…

…. and also different from the tv series version. Also, the usual personality traits seems to be exaggerated. Piorot surpasses self importance becoming arrogant while Hastings surpasses cluelessness becoming moronic.

Typical Christie, excellent plot

Great twist and turns, whimsical characters that are clever and complicated, with a surprising death.

excellent performance

unlike some other reviewers, I do not see James bond here. an enjoyable Poirot story made even better by Hugh Fraser's performance. unlike other Poirot stories which unfold over days or weeks, this one takes a long time for Poirot to unravel. not my favorite Poirot adventure, hence the 4 stars, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Magnificent! (Contains spoiler)

Hugh Fraser’s performance of this story could not have been better. I listened with rapt attention, and I’m listening again. Almost as good as watching it on Netflix. I was disappointed by SPOILER — Hastings being constantly duped and knocked out — but immensely entertaining as only Agatha Christie can deliver. 💕❤️

Loved it

The fact that Hercule Poirot came neck n neck with the big 4 multiple times not being able to catch them and is sent on a wild goose chase every minute is amazing story telling my our beloved Agatha Christie

What a twist!

My sister and I really enjoyed this book. Hugh Fraser is an incredible narrator! A true gem. We always look for his name. Ms. Agatha Christie really outdid herself. What a beautiful mind! I try to catch her but alas she is impossible.

Fantastic, feels similar to Holmes

While Sherlock Holmes and is trustworthy comrade, John Watson, tend to solve cases on a slightly larger scale (not always true, but it is more often than not), Hercule Poirot and Arthur Hastings have finally done the same in this novel. The story to me, has characteristics that resemble Arthur Conan Doyle's Sign of Four. This may be why I enjoyed this novel so much. I love both authors (Christie and Doyle, maybe Doyle more) and I recommend this to everyone. Hugh Fraser does a fantastic job as always narrating the story.
