About this listen

Is an argument-free marriage possible? Fawn Weaver's answer is yes, absolutely, even when one or both partners are strong willed, independent, and opinionated. (She admits to being all three.) In this groundbreaking book, the best-selling author and award-winning marriage blogger asks listeners to invest 28 days in learning how to live together without bickering, blame, angry outbursts, or silent treatments.

Fawn begins with the startling premise that, contrary to popular opinion, conflict in marriage is not necessary or inevitable. Then she leads listeners on a day-by-day journey toward a more peaceful and supportive relationship. Chapter by brief chapter, she offers fresh perspectives and practical strategies for communicating effectively, building understanding, and defusing anger while at the same time nurturing honesty, vulnerability, and mutual support.

very hard to relate to

This was a struggle to finish. I find it very hard to relate to. A lot of contradicting ideas about how to communicate with your spouse and the author talks a lot about her very lavish lifestyle and her and her husband's high paying jobs a lot. I don't feel like this was written for the average middle class or below couple or anyone with chileren.

She talks about how easy it is to just quit jobs so she can fulfill a dream of having one day a week where she does nothing at all, not even dishes or laundry. she mentions how when she was a stay at home wife she was so exhausted from all her functions and projects, including funding a campaign to get a death row inmate exonerated. talks a lot about expensive vacations and fortune 500 companies and working at extremely successful restaurants and hotels, friends who are successful movie producers, how succesful her blog is, how successful she is and how big a crowd there is at her book signings. the average person doesn't live this way, and it's so hard to relate to her story.

I found myself rolling my eyes every ten minutes or so in this book. especially the story she told where she invited her inlaws to live with them and became enraged because her mother in law made pie which was against her house rules because she can't control her sweet tooth. so she took a SIX HOUR WALK to cool off.

the content is just not great, it reads like a very boring autobiography.
