About this listen

This marine's the perfect hoax... if she doesn't fall for him first. Stats whiz Kayla Moriarity knows her way around numbers and algorithms. Men, on the other hand, are unsolvable equations. Now Kayla's en route to her sister's wedding - without the fictional boyfriend she invented for her family. Fortunately, her plane comes complete with complimentary cocktails and a ridiculously hot ex-marine in the seat beside her. And that's all it takes for Kayla's inhibitions to go sailing out the airlock.

Cooper Shillings has soft spot for people in trouble, but he certainly wasn't expecting to land in it himself - and definitely not while getting naughty mid-air with a sexy southern belle. When he hears Kayla's predicament, however, he offers his services as a stand-in boyfriend. After all, he's heading overseas soon... and how could he refuse a little no-strings wickedness? It's the perfect plan. And all Kayla has to do is ensure her family falls for the ultimate bluff, without falling for it - and Cooper - in the process...

Too much sex.

Such a good story line and cute dialog between Kayla and Cooper
Would have liked more story and less sex.

Good start to the series :)

3-3.5 stars

This was an enjoyable story. I liked Kayla and Copper and thought their story was good. This was the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I'd consider trying more of her work in the future.

Kayla is an Actuary, someone that deals with numbers and statistics for a living. This tends to leak into her day-to-day life and Kayla finds that most people just don't get her. Kayla's parents and sister love her but they're always harping on whether Kayla is involved with a man and this bugs Kayla because she doesn't believe she should need a man to make her complete. However; her family listening to her is a different matter altogether.

Cooper is an ex-Marine that is going into personal security with a firm that is sending him back overseas to guard the team he used to be a part of. Cooper lost a friend while in the Marines and is having some problems dealing with them and his culpability (or lack there of) in the matter. Cooper's relationship with his own family is rather messed up as well and this (combined with some guilt) is pushing his current career views.

After her sister's engagement dinner turned into a mess because everyone was too busy harping on Kayla about her single status, Kayla decided to make up a boyfriend to avoid issues at the wedding. Kayla hasn't told her family hardly anything about her new boyfriend and told them that he wasn't going to be able to make it to the wedding, hoping his mere existence will provide the buffer she needs. Cooper is on the same flight as Kayla, flying to where he needs to be to start his new security job on Monday which will have him shipping out to go overseas almost immediately. Cooper and Kayla meet while they're waiting to load onto the plane and there's an immediate attraction. Cooper quickly realizes that Kayla is scared of flying and will having a rough flight and so he makes arrangements to sit beside her for the flight.

Kayla and Cooper hit it off immediately on their flight and Cooper uses some interesting methods to keep Kayla's mind off her fear of flying. Kayla and Cooper both have the opinion of not seeing love as something for them...they see it in others but just aren't sure it'll be in their own happy endings. As they start to get to know each other, there's a slight shifting and they start having thoughts of wanting more. This leads them to deciding to spend the weekend together with Cooper masquerading as her boyfriend. The arrangement is only supposed to be for the weekend and then they plan to go their separate ways at the end of it all, however, their feelings for each other continue to escalate and soon, they both want more. There is some drama and angst to deal with as it sometimes can be hard for someone to change their life and plans quickly, even with good reason. Thankfully, things work out and by the end, Kayla and Cooper are together and starting towards a HEA.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked Kayla and I appreciated that she was courageous enough to be willing to reach for a relationship with Cooper, even when he was being a bit dense about things. Cooper was a bit thick and experienced a brief bout of relationship dumbassedness but he was a good guy overall. I liked that it didn't take him long to realize his mistake and when he did, he didn't delay in making the moves needed to fix it. Overall, this was a good story and I liked the characters.

Bad language

What did you like best about Temporarily Yours? What did you like least?

The storyline was good , but I think it could have been delivered without all of the F--- words. No one should have to purchase a book not knowing that this word was used so many times in the dialogue. Author seems to have a good flare for story telling, but needs to choose better vocabulary.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Leave out all the F.... words which aren't needed to tell the story. There are so many more words to express ones self.

Could you see Temporarily Yours being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.
