About this listen

After escaping the Underworld and reuniting with his daughter, you would think Noah had earned himself a rest.

But newly arrived on an alternate version of Earth created by the Roman gods, Noah needs to find his missing son, Jim, while avoiding the further machinations of the gods.

Noah quickly finds himself at the center of a plot by the Norns, the Norse goddesses of Fate, to keep this new world’s history unchanged from the old—even if it takes a bloodbath to do it.

Pursued at sea by pirates and an ancient demigod, Noah must decide on which side of history he wants to stand before it’s too late...especially since the drums of war are beginning to beat in the New World.

When the Roman gods wake, Tartarus will rise with them!

Perfect!

Have listened to both books twice and got even more from them the second time thru. Love the depth of mythology entwined throughout and the gaming aspects (as a 10-year WOW veteran). Avidly waiting for the next installment!

Excellently written and performed

The unique and abstract view Robert Hinshaw takes to mythology mixes incredibly well with the more rigid framework of litRPG. His background knowledge and detail are terrific to behold. I can't wait for the next book!

More Please!

This is what Audible credits were made for... A great author, writing a fantastic, long book, with a narrator who can bring the story to life. I can't wait for the next entry!

Great!

A fun, action packed adventure. The narrator did a marvelous job with a variety of accents, voices, and tone. Pirates, zombies, and witches...there was never a dull moment. This book was a joy to listen to! I look forward to book 3! The combination of the author's humorous writing style & the narrator's talent had me thoroughly engaged.

Wow just Wow!

To be honest I was worried that going down the divine path would be boring. I was wrong! The story grabs you and you become invested in the characters. This is so much better than the solo grind of the mc in some books. This book has dialog, an mc that cares for more than his own growth and it has originality within an ancient group of literature. I hope that sounded alright lol. The book is long, a great listen and has a bit of litrpg if you like it. I hope the next book comes out soon. I understand if he keeps them this long it might be a while but dang I want more. Thank you Mr. Hinshaw!

Where is book 3?!

While I consume audiobooks like a parched man drinks water, getting a book that's a solid 10 to 15 hours at my preferred speeds is always a treat. That being said, I gleefully await the next book.

Love this series! So much lore intertwined!

Could not wait to start it, then started it and couldn't wait to finish it, and now I can't wait for the next installment.

Book 2 Tartarus Rising

Definitely worth it. In fact I loved it!
It did seem a little bit slower then the first but most of that was needed story info or filler. What separates this authors work among many other writers that have talented writing skills in one specific way or other is the filler they apply or not in their books. The good writers that have talent make something that has some entertainment without the filler (back&or story info) usually caps their creation as good not great or legend. Few have bridged the gaps to create greate entertainment but even those must have some filler. Sometimes I come across promising works with great ideas that’s very entertaining, at least the idea of what they kicked up but then the filler falls flat along with the good idea. I don’t mean to sound so judgmental and I wouldn’t even mention in all this detail if all the writers didn’t have enough promise that I’d say to them so long as they still have the desire to write then they should keep on doing. Back to Mr Hinshaw the filler durning this second book seemed like it might be a waist with time invested without the pay off and all that ;) Parts were like watching an empty canvas seemingly randomly painted upon with out rhyme or reason with little bits of beauty and excitement coming through just to be moved to another blank part. I was starting to feel like I had to high of hopes with equal time lost. Especially when you take into account the litrpg elements. Since there really wasn’t much added besides very little and mostly repeats with few exceptions in beginning half. Let me conclude by saying the end half was terrific, prolly would’ve liked it much more if I read both books back to back, thought it has been some time since I did listen to the first book. Regardless the time was worth it. The filler to the canvas had the brush strokes expertly weaving mythologies, pantheons, and gods into a brilliantly broad and intricate story plot (world) and character development alike with the most unique inclusion of raw fairytale myths Painted in and done with such smooth finality that all the cheesy parts are actually meant to be as they are for comedy’s sake without taking away from the serious and brilliant imagination of the flow of the story. Truth is it was written in such a way that gave it incredible depth to the story and it’s realism despite the comedy of those broader parts brought in. As an end not I’ll add the the rpg elements may have not gone the way I wanted at first or even felt it should’ve when at the exciting parts. Despite being frustrated with magical growth elements at first and it being unexpected how it ended. It definitely was enjoyable by the end. That’s for those who enjoy the game elemental genre. Hopefully you already know by now that it definitely not the typical game element. Certainly not a “crunchy” but if you liked the first book and got this second one and are feeling a bit disappointed. Its basically what I already said about the story and filler. The game element or magic system has they same sort of rythme but is great. I think the next book will be a huge factor in how I’ll feel about rating the series as a whole. Some series are just to connected to have to much extremes in ratings from each one. My opinion is that usually a good indication of you enjoyed the first. The narration was fantastic!!!!!
