About this listen

Michael Sebastian thought that Curacao would be the perfect place to have a little fun in the sun - and between the sheets. So far no one has struck his interest - until Sam Anderson walks into the bar. With one look at his tense body and expensive suit, Michael knows that this is a man in need of release. And Michael is more than willing to lend a hand.

Shattered by the most intense sex he's ever had, Sam has to face the facts - one night with a handsome, dominating stranger is all he gets before returning to the closet he's been suffocating in for years. But when Sam starts his new job as the CEO of a failing technology company, he discovers that Michael is one of his new employees.

While Michael is desperate for another night with Sam, he knows he shouldn't get involved with his boss, let alone another man who can't accept who he is. But as they're forced to work together to save the company, the desire sparking between them becomes impossible to ignore.

Contains mature themes.

So HOT! Sam and Michael were explosive together! Pure dynamite! We get a little S/m and it was amazing. The plot was interesting and engaging, had me curious the whole time. Plus, the characters’ aching for each other was heartbreaking but also tantalizing.
Things I would have liked: an epilogue (which I found out is available on Anna’s blog)
A little better distinction between characters on the narration, at times I wasn’t sure who’s POV I was on.
Definitely will be checking out book 2!

HOT

The storyline was great to follow. Sam is a flawed man lol. I was hoping William would be thrown in jail by the end or entrapped at least but no such luck. Narrator was excellent.

Gripping Tale

I love the one night stand tropes so much and this one didn’t disappoint. It was fast paced, engaging and super hot. Sam and Michael were fire. I hated everything they had to go through personally but that only made them stronger. Sometimes we need to reach rock bottom to know how strong we really are. As always, Iggy Toma did a fantastic job narrating.

This book was all kinds of hot!

Takeover follows the story of Sam, a successful CEO, who just sealed a deal in working with a company in Pittsburgh. He travels to Curacao before he begins this new job and is then approached by Michael. They share one helluva hot night together, then part ways the next day. This doesn't mean that their one night of passion is forgotten, when they return home, the thoughts of one another still lingers. When Michael learns that Sam is the new CEO at the company that he’d founded (but no longer holds high position - long story), he couldn’t be more surprised, but Sam is determined to maintain a professional decorum despite the attraction that he still feels for Michael, plus he's in the closet when it comes to work.

Takeover is probably one of the very few books I've read/listened to that held an honest reality when it comes to the struggles of the LGBTQ community that I could easily imagine people that I know in the real world having similar experiences and battling the same personal inner demons. Michael and Sam struggle with having to work together and keep the attraction under wraps that it obviously becomes over whelming and soon they can't help it. Along with that, they both have trust issues and need to make life-altering decisions which in turn could affect them both, professionally and personally.

I enjoyed listening to Iggy Toma even thought I prefer dual narration. The story did unravel the characters as it went on. You get to learn about Sam and Michael's insecurities and how they they work together to overcome them. It was a great listen!

Sweet, tamed MM Romance

Good story, good setting, good everything. Liked the political queer flavor. Good writer and narrator.

Very corporate

Held my attention. Not too repetitive but all these stories repeat the same thoughts and feelings over and over which turns me off. Story took you behind the scenes of running the corporate world. Good and not too many sex scenes, just the right pacing.

Interesting story

I like the two main characters however when it comes to welts and bruises I just don't think that's very sexy.

too much bdsm to be sexy

I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this story when I first picked it up but oooooh joy was I wrong. I LOVED it! From beginning to end it was fantastic. I don't know how other reviewers couldn't feel the attraction between these two but it was palpable! Amazing!

Big surprise from a random pick

This was one of my very first listens in this genre, it’s been a few years since the first time I listened to it. For some reason, it’s become my comfort book that I listen to multiple times and always keep stored on my devices, ready to play.

Nothing groundbreaking but still charming

On my tbr shelf way too long.

Zabo sets up the characters well though the plot was a bit repetitive till about 1/2 way through. Luckily for me, since I did the audiobook version Iggy Toma's gorgeous voice kept that from being too big a problem.
