About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Jenny Colgan returns to the setting of her beloved Little Beach Street Bakery series for a timely and heartfelt novel set in a Cornish seaside village.

Marisa Rosso can’t understand why everyone else is getting on with their lives as she still struggles to get over the death of her beloved grandfather, back home in Italy. Everyone loses grandparents, right? Why is she taking it so badly?

Retreating further and further from normal life, she moves to the end of the earth - the remote tidal island of Mount Polbearne, at the foot of Cornwall, hoping for peace and solitude, while carrying on her job as a registrar, dealing with births, weddings, and deaths, even as she feels life is passing her by.

Unfortunately - or fortunately? - the solitude she craves proves elusive. Between her noisy Russian piano-teaching neighbor, the bustle and community spirit of the tiny village struggling back to life after the quarantine, and the pressing need to help save the local bakery, can Marisa find her joy again at the end of the world?

Of the 4 Beach Street novels it’s difficult to choose one I like best - but being a recovered agoraphobic this one speaks more to my heart - however the narration on this one is far superior to the first three. Huckle actually sounds southern, the Italian, the Russian, the British, all are great. If you have more in this series the narrator needs to be this one!!!

A good story of real problems

The storyline had a slower pace in first 1-2 chapters, but gets very good in chapter 3.
I really like the care she gave to main character and description of feeling anxiety.
The thread of Polly’s twins had too much book time in last few chapters, but I really enjoyed the ending

Finally a character who overcomes anxiety

Great performance - and the voice of Huckle is sooo much better than the earlier books in the series.

Classic Jenny Colgan

I loved this series so much & am kind of grieving that it's over, along with the characters I've come to know & love. I want to know what happens next with these people, but, alas, they are gone forever. I immediately bought another Jenny Colgan ebook to ease my sadness :( The narrator was perfect in this final book. They just kept getting better & better with each new book. I'm going to miss all the new friends I made with these interesting characters, but hopeful Jenny will introduce me to some new lovable people. I haven't enjoyed a lot of my Audible books for one reason or another & was considering canceling, but I hit a home run with Jenny Colgan. Thank you Jenny! You brought me through a rough time in my life.

So Sad To See It End!

Why is it that we go through all the bad times with a character and when things finally get good the book ends? It was a very good story, but three quarters of the book is so depressing I want to jump off the roof. A couple of times I almost shut it down and thought I'd give it a little longer. I'm glad I did.

good story

I adore these stories. The only thing wrong with them is that they are too short!

I love visiting the bakery…

Once again Jenny Colgan shines a light on a difficult subject to explain. Depression that manifests itself slowly into agoraphobia and the slow road back if you’re lucky enough to have the help you need available to you. Fun to catch up with cast of characters we’ve come to love and to be reminded that no challenge is insurmountable with friendship, family and community.

Once again…
