About this listen

In the age of social media, too many people obsess over Facebook likes, Twitter retweets, and other digital tokens of popularity. That habit is a symptom of a deeper problem: the need for constant approval.

Too often we live our lives for an audience and miss out on the kind of life we really desire. In Stop Checking Your Likes, author and life coach Susie Moore shows listeners how to escape the "approval trap" and accept themselves as they are right now. With warmth and down-to-earth humor, Moore reveals 14 principles for developing unshakable self-confidence, illustrating her lessons with stories from her experience as a young executive and self-made entrepreneur.

Along the way, she encourages listeners to celebrate their talents, reaffirm their self-worth, and laugh off trolls and naysayers. By recognizing their own unique value, listeners will find the courage to live with freedom and ease, regardless of how many likes they get.

Must-read

The title of this book did not appeal to me at all as I am not social media obsessed. However, I was introduced to Susie's work a couple of years ago. She has a great way of lifting people up with helping to find positive ways of looking at things and practical strategies to be more successful and happy, so I decided to get it. This was a great book that takes a look at how to reframe how we see big issues like rejection, trauma, difficult circumstances and when things just aren't fair. Susie has a great way of being positive in a practical way without being unrealistic and over-the-top. Highly recommend!

An empowering, confidence-inducing book

Absolutely loved this book. Don’t be fooled by the title—it’s not about caring less about social media likes. It’s about giving less f*cos in LIFE. I needed this. Highly recommend! 🖤

Good Points

Currently in therapy for stress management, it was helpful to hear quite a few things in this book that I have discussed in therapy. Overall, this is a pretty good book, I know life coaches are a popular gig right now but the writer openly admits she has no education to lead to “life coaching.” There are many tips in the book that you can apply to living a happier, more fulfilled life and she tries to motivate you to do your best. She kind of reminds me of a Rachel Hollis from a different perspective… not saying it as a good or bad thing, just my opinion. There were a few things I disagreed with but overall more good/solid recommendations over bad so you just gotta take what you need from it!

A+ Read. Very Relevent & Useful in Today's Culture

Unlike the reviewer below me, the title is actually what caught my attention because I am a social media user (mostly IG, sometimes FB) and while this book is not based around social media, it tries to show you how to feel good about yourself and not care so much about what others think of you. It does dabble on the social media subject and how many people base their worth or likability on the number of likes one receives, but that is exactly what is wrong with social media - it can make us feel bad about ourselves. She gives great advice and stories to go along with her message. The content imo was very well done and her narration was easy on the ears. I thoroughly enjoyed listening. It did give me strength. This is a book I would recommend to others. I finished listening to the book in 2 weeks time. Thank you

The best in its genre!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! I know Susie doesn't write for our admiration, but for your own good, you must give this a listen. And then, listen again. And perhaps again! It's not about social media. It's about you! Be more confident, more compassionate, more successful, more YOU!

Typical self help

I gave it 4 chapters, but didn’t hear anything I hadn’t heard before. I gave up on it. These lessons she learned the hard way could have been learned in Sunday school. Just saying.

It may be a decent book but narrator voice

I can't even get past the first chapter with this robotic narrator's voice, it's like really bad. Can't even say the swear words with emphasis literally sounds like a robot from the 80s . Will not be finishing
