this is such a fun story, where rugged Canadian goes to a primitive land and fights for women's honor. The characters were likable in the performance was excellent

I liked it

I received this title for free in exchange for an honest review.
I liked the story overall. it's a common premise of a stranger in a strange land but I thought it set itself apart from similar stories. the mc isn't super op yet but has advantages over some of the obstacles he faces. it was pretty fast paced and had quite a bit of action. add in two of the best narrators out there it made for an easy and enjoyable listen.

A harem book done right

The mc is strong and level headed doesn’t act like a whinny cry baby like most other harem based books. He is not afraid to go after what he wants and doesn’t have to have a 20 minute mental conversation trying to make up his mind. Sex comes frequent and naturally. It doesn’t feel rushed. I didn’t think I would like it because the cover act gives the idea the mc will get a nose bleed every time a girl talks to him. So I was very happy and surprised this is one of the few harem based book that are really really good. I was just thinking I don't think Daniel Wisniewski and Alyssa Poon does bad books. Almost like they read them first or something. Anyway not much to say other than you will love it.

Average

So a gun-toting hillbilly (at least, Canada's version) falls into a portal to a stone age world with humans and elves and basically becomes kind of a god, and not just because of his fully automatic assault rifle. He proceeds to try to conquer/liberate local tribes.
It's alright, but didn't do a lot for me personally - I quickly started just listening to it when trying to fall asleep at night. If future books in the series are published, I probably won't get them.

A surprising enjoyable novel!!

Really loved the story and the whole premise of this new novel, with the MC modern day cowboy saving the day along with two hot elven chicks all the while struggling to come to grips that he's 'no longer in Kansas anymore'. Then you add in the intelligence and thought that he has to put in just to survive and found it surprisingly realistic as he sought to overcome the linguistic challenges along with admittedly difficult 'bad guys' to overcome and save the day. And it just gets better after that, and seriously, who doesn't love a catgirl in the mix!! Also loved the dual narration, so very well done all around!!!

Good Introduction to the Series

I really enjoyed this introduction to this series. A portal transports Tex to another time and place. A time much less evolved than his own and a place much like his owns ancient past. Tex must integrate his survival knowledge and skills with the magic of his new world to protect and survive. I can easily recommend giving this book a chance if your a fan of the genre.

Daniel Wisniewski and Alyssa Poon are such a fantastic narration duo and gave an absolutely amazing narration performance for this book.

interesting new world

right up front I recommend the book. I tend to take it easy on the first book of a new series as Beginnings are inherently shaky Endeavors in my experience. even from tried and true authors. this book is not for the puritanical as it does not fade to black and is Unapologetic for what it is. we come across our main character as he is confronting a meth head known for s a plus. there is an exchange of gunfire followed by a car chase then foot pursuit the ends in a fall through a portal into another world. the scumbag doesn't make it but our hero does. he finds himself rescuing two elves from these Neanderthal type of creatures for lack of a better descriptor. they of course think that his firearm is Magic and they do not speak the same language as our hero. eventually our hero is able to communicate with the Elven maidens through Magic not his. they are semi primitive steeped in mysticism with their culture facing a grave threat that would see them annihilated in its entirety. the narration team to the fantasy job. lastly I will say Well done to everybody who had a hand isn't bringing the story to us, the audiobook listeners.

awesome

honestly I didn't think I would like this story but once I got into it I actually enjoyed it tremendously the only issue that I have with it is the ending hopefully it's going to be the first book of a series otherwise the ending doesn't make sense
