Acerca de esta escucha

A stunningly unique take on time travel. The 27th bestselling Kindle book of 2017—out of almost 6 million titles!

What if you found a way to send something back in time? But not weeks, days, or even minutes back. What if you could only send something back a fraction of a second? Would this be of any use? You wouldn't have nearly enough time to right a wrong, change an event, or win a lottery.

Nathan Wexler is a brilliant physicist who thinks he's found a way to send matter a split second back into the past. But before he can even confirm his findings, he and his wife-to-be, Jenna Morrison, find themselves in a battle for their very lives. Because while time travel to an instant earlier seems useless, Jenna comes to learn that no capability in history has ever been more profound or far-reaching.

Now, as Jenna fights to defeat the powerful forces arrayed against her, nothing less than the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. . .

Split Second is a roller-coaster ride of a thriller, one that will have readers pondering the nature of time, and of reality, long after they've read the last page

Not as much scifi as I expected, but a good thriller nonetheless. The beginning was a bit slow and it took me a while to get into it, but it is well worth sticking with it. There is some pretty good discussion of time and time travel which is interesting in itself aside from its relation to the story.

A brilliant scientist has made a time travel discovery and it is on a thumb drive and in the cloud. Two groups are trying to get this information and the scientist's girlfriend is caught in the middle:she has possession of it and they want it. She goes on the run and enlists the help of a former military man turned PI.

Moves and countermoves, a megalomaniac, possible world domination, time travel and a strong female lead are some of the components of the story. Interesting ending that I did not quite see coming. Listening to this book was time well spent.

Kevin Pariseau gave a fine reading, as usual.

"No time like the present", Knight said.

This is a very thought-provoking tale of the implications of time travel and ultimately how space may be conquered.

New slant on time travel

The concept of the book is very interesting. However, the writing is at times cringe-worthy. I found myself rolling my eyes at other times. The story is interesting enough but it seems a little formulaic in a thriller/mystery way. It's the comfort food of science and action writing.

Good Idea, Not Artfully Done

Plus: plot never stops moving; fascinating unraveling of science ideas; author welcomes us into his creative process at the end; read clearly & with energy. Minus: so many adjectives & adverbs - Tom Swift syndrome; fixation with GWOT.

original & fast-paced

I’ve always liked audiobooks while traveling as I find they make the journey sped by; so, I thought it might do the same for ucky chores.

I cleaned, painted, and reorganized my pantry. This book (12 hrs) made the job so much more interesting. In fact, when my husband was going through his items and wanted to listen to music, I found I was anxious to listen again to find out what happened. That’s a sign of a good book and performance if I’m looking forward to painting and organizing a pantry!

I probably could have figured out the ending if I were trying, but since the goal was to entertain and distract, this book did the trick.

I enjoyed the Star Trek references and the science-made-fun aspect.

I recommend this book.

A terrific way to make a chore go by faster

A fun and creative journey into a world where time travel takes a twist. Enjoyed the characters and good narration.

...but Richards has set the bar so high with his other novels. And this is a first for me to say, I did not enjoy the science in this case. It’s odd writing that. Well at least not all of it. Perhaps because of the premise of the story, and what a difficult subject it is since most of it is so unknown. Despite that, still a terrific plot, good performance and I couldn’t stop listening! And still looking forward to the next novel.

Would be 5 stars for most other authors..

nonstop action but not with so many complex sub plots as require a score card to keep track. great read and lots of strange paradoxes to consider.

science faction based on real science

Had to breeze through some technical parts, but the story kept me interested. Some likeable characters. Unexpected drama! A few 'What the ?! ' parts that made you want to read the next chapter.

Had some great surprises!

This was unique for a time-travel book, and I liked the story. Really good twist near the end as well. The narrator though? A swing and a miss. He could read just fine (except kept saying a couple of words wrong throughout the book}, but there was no soul or depth to his narration. He couldn't interpret and express the character's emotions well at all, and...well, just no.
I will read the next book in the series, though, and endure the narrator in hopes the actual story will be as good as the one in this book.

Great Story, but Narrator Brings it Down
