About this listen

Sometimes You Lose, The Sometimes Series, Book 2 (Please note this audiobook does have a cliff hanger.)

It's been three weeks since Haley Rosewood and Devon Carrington won the lottery. Most people would picture their days taking them from one exciting journey to another and their nights filled with champagne and caviar as appetizers to unbridle their passion - but that's not what happens. Instead, Haley is trying to find a new home, a place to start her business, and a way to keep control of her life. Devon is only trying to help her, but it seems that everything he does just pushes Haley's buttons in the wrong way.

When a new contract comes into his security company, it threatens not only the future of his company but Haley and Allison's welfare, as well. Devon must take drastic measures to stop it, and Haley has to trust him, but can she before it's too late? Or will her trust in him be what destroys her in Sometimes You Lose?

Thrills and feels. Need the next one!

What happens after the ‘happily ever after?’ Hayley and Devin are adjusting to their new life together and for Devin, it’s not quite what he had imagined. Despite their love and connection Hayley begins to let her trust issues become a wedge between them. As everyday life begins to set in, Hayley becomes more overwhelmed and leaves Devin struggling to adjust. Just as Hayley begins to find her purchase, her past comes barreling back with her and her daughter in he crossfire and Devin desperately trying to protect them.

I loved getting to follow up with these characters. Life isn’t always tidy and neat. It can be challenging and messy, yet still worth fighting for. Getting to see Devin and Hayley fight for their love was so great and heartfelt. Sometimes You Lose had just enough drama and suspense to keep me firmly glued to my earbuds and plenty of feels to have me completely invested in the characters. And OH MY GOD it ends in a cliffhanger! *dies*

Narration was once again done by Julie Walters and Gene Branson. I really liked that the narration was once again performed by the same duo. I enjoyed their performances and the emotion they both brought t the characters. I’m excited for the next part of Hayley and Devin’s story. 4 Stars.

losing it

When you come into money expect the roaches to come out of the woodwork such as deadbeat dads who accuse you of kidnapping. Devon will have a lot of explaining to do to Hailey when her ex shows up and she gets arrested. Hailey will have to trust Devon to make it right or want nothing to do with him. I received a complimentary audio and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Can you say ‘Freddy’s a douchebag?

OMGEE!!! This book! Devon and Haley each won 1/2 of the lottery a few weeks ago and, for struggling single mom, Haley, the adjustment from rags to riches will take some time. Devon moves Haley and her daughter into his house to protect them from the drama that surrounds lottery winners. Devon wants a relationship with Haley but will he be able to get past her wall of distrust? When someone from Haley’s past becomes a threat, will Haley trust Devon to keep her and Allison safe or will she, once again, turn on the man who has her best interests at heart?
I love Devon but really wanted to shake Haley every time she started to accuse Devon of controlling her!! For me, the sign of a good book is when I start yelling at the characters...so this deserves 10 stars! I need the last book so my heartbeat can return to normal.

Sometimes You Lose

Picking up where book one left off, this book continues the story of Haley and Devon. It’s not smooth sailing for them, and there’s a pretty big cliffhanger... fortunately the next book is available!

I really enjoy Stacy Eaton’s writing style. She writes with such emotion and knows her subjects well.

The narrators really brought the story to life. They seamlessly flowed back and forth as the POV changed with each chapter.

Another good book by Stacy Eaton

Book two is as good as book one. But the ending leaves me wanting to get to book three as soon as possible.
Another quick listen.

Narration is great. Love the two narrators.

Do you trust me?

I have to say I got sick of Devon asking Haley "Do you trust me?", in my opinion, if you have to ask... besides actions speak louder than words.

Poor Devon, all he wants is a loving relationship with Haley and he comes up against roadblock after roadblock. Things are far from smooth from Haley's side either, but I feel like Devon got the short end of the stick.

If you enjoyed book one you'll love this one, it's even better than the first (not: this series should to be read in order), in this book there's more character development and we get to see what drives the characters to act they way they do. It's interesting to see Haley's history. Allison is coming into her own in this book as well, she's less of a child and is making her opinion known.

The dual narration works really well with each narrator doing one of the POV's. The character voices are managed well by the narrators and the delivery has a good pace and tone.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Trust Me

Wow, Stacy Eaton did it again with this book. I was immediately pulled into this story with the continuation of Haley and Devon's relationship. I love how they both are looking out for Allison's welfare, and for the focus on Haley's past. She is such a hardworking selfless person, yet keeps things guarded. I was very much surprised by the twist at the end of the book when Devon tells her to Trust Me. I do not like giving away spoilers in my reviews, it is noted that this is a cliffhanger, but its really well done. I thought the narration team of Julie Walters and Gene Branson did a great performance with their duel POV. They are consistent with their character portrayals. I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series, as I want to know what happens next.
