Story
“Dear Law Student: Here’s the truth. You belong here.” Law Professor Andrew Ferguson and former student Jonathan Yusef Newton open with this statement of reassurance in The Law of Law School. As all former law students and current lawyers can attest, law school is disorienting, overwhelming, and difficult. Unlike other educational institutions, law school is not set up simply to teach a subject. Instead, the first year of law school is set up to teach a skill set and way of thinking, which you then apply to do the work of lawyering.

Police immediately arrested Edward Lee Elmore, a semiliterate, mentally retarded black man with no previous felony record. His only connection to the victim was having cleaned her gutters and windows, but barely ninety days after the victim’s body was found, he was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death. Story
On a bitterly cold afternoon in December 1986, a Michigan State trooper found the frozen body of Jerry Tobias in the bed of his pickup truck. The 31-year-old oil field worker and small-time drug dealer was clad only in jeans, a checkered shirt, and cowboy boots. Inside the cab of the truck was a fresh package of expensive steaks from a local butcher shop, the first lead in a case that would be quickly lost in a thicket of bungled forensics, shady prosecution, and a psychopathic star witness out for revenge.

When the local iron mine began hiring women in 1975, Lois Jenson, a single mother on welfare, didn't think twice about accepting the grueling but well-paid job. What she hadn't considered was that she was entering a male-dominated society that fiercely resisted the inclusion of women, a prejudice born out in the brutal harassment of every female miner.

The word "pig" was written in blood on the headboard in the master bedroom. As MacDonald was being loaded into the ambulance, he accused a band of drug-crazed hippies of the crime.

On September 15, 1963, the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, was bombed, killing four young girls. Who were the perpetrators? Due to reluctant witnesses and racial prejudice, the FBI closed the case without any indictments. But as Martin Luther King, Jr., claimed, "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." Bending Toward Justice is a detailed account of this key moment in our national struggle for equality and the long road to prosecuting those responsible for the tragedy, related by an author who played a major role in the investigation.

The title of the book signals the book’s EXACT demographic
This book is for you only if you are considering attending law school. The ‘chapters’ of the book would be helpful if they related to the sections that the book continually tells the listener to go back and review for minor details.
This book is not an overview of the legal profession. This book is only for those 12 or 18 months from applying for law school.

More of a podcast than an audio book but with the written book included would be great.
The audio is filled with information that is VERY valuable, but it also has quite a bit of case law and promises exercises, but only offers very limited amount of exercises for practice.
More of a podcast than an audio book but with the written book included would be great.

Horrible narration
The book sounds like an automatic voice message. It is thoroughly underwhelming and painful to listen to.

Many words, little substance.
Out of all the law books I have gone through this one is the worst. it offers very little. its accurate though.

Absolutely not the best for this topic
Can confirm: All 3 star reviews and below are completely accurate.
This could have been a great overview, but it wasn't. The automated voice from my bank's telephone banker could have done a better job at narration and been twice as informative. That's a very low bar. Find yourself a better book.

Being a lawyer
this book is so boring from the beginning to the middle part after that it gets better. At first it let's you know about school and jobs.

Just started
Since I bought the audio is there a way for me to get a copy of the materials mention for example the case briefs? Then I’ll more than likely change my rating
