About this listen
'A moving novel of strength and resistance in the face of evil but also an inspiring journey of resilience after loss' Erin Litteken
Paris, 1940: Two sisters separated by the Nazis… After a devastating attack, Justine and Ève Beaufort find themselves on opposite sides of the war, both in their beloved Paris. But can they ever find their way back to each other?
It was the day that changed everything. When the Nazis broke into our home, destroying everything, taking our home and our security. I thought it couldn’t get worse. But then they also took my sister.
After that day nothing was the same. I thought I’d never see her again. I thought she was lost to me forever. I joined the Resistance, vowing to fight against the evil German army with every last spark of fire in my body. Nothing and nobody can stop me.
Until I catch a glimpse of a woman who looks just like my sister. Alive. But this is not the sweet darling girl I once knew. This is a platinum blonde happily conversing with a terrifying Gestapo officer. No longer my sister. But a traitor.
And I know what I must now do…
Could you choose your country – and what is right – over the person you once loved more than anyone in the world?

Story
I sent 19-year-old Phyllis, my youngest recruit, into a city crawling with enemy soldiers. And this beautiful house on a tree-lined street, the headquarters of cold-hearted German soldiers, was the last place she was seen. I trail my fingers along the gilded furniture and see the light dance off the glittering chandeliers. On the top floor, I find the dates inscribed by beaten prisoners, and I know my girl was shown no mercy.

Now, Iris can’t stop thinking about what she’s read on the official paperwork: BABY GIRL, FRANCE, 1939 – the year war was declared with Nazi Germany.

Story
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Story
Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids. Why the endless repetition?????!!!
We reader aren’t dumb, stop repeating the same things over and over and over and over… this is so annoying. The story is ok but makes it terrible to read or listen because of how it is written. No one edited this?

WHAT? Is it over? Abrupt ending. Surely a second book
Slow to get started . But glad I stuck with it when I thought about returning it. Not j\heavy on action but emotion. But to end like this is unsatisfying. Got to be a second book but must be soon coming out while details and players are fresh on my mind .i appreciate no profanity or gratuitous sex scenes. Not needed cause it is a decent story once it starts. I really like this author and have read her other books and not disappointed

what stood out the most? the ending!
please tell me there will be a sequel! there must be because the book is set uo for one. i lived this book till the ending. it's about 2 sisters in ww2 Europe. one of them is raped by a Nazi and taken away. The book goes back and forth telling what is happening in both their lives for a time period after the rape which keeps the reader interested until the end. What on Earth was the author thinking with that ending??
