Emotional story, lovely ending.

This was a touching and emotional story, I had to keep listening to see how it would end… and it had a beautifully meaningful ending.

Family is Everything

The story covers a period of time that so many other stories have covered. But for those of us who did not have to live through those years of atrocities, there can never be enough stories to help us understand how to make sure it never happens again. The narration was perfect.

Engaging characters

This is a very well written book with characters who are developed in a realistic manner. Watching the growth of the two protagonists over time was captivating and enjoyable. If you enjoy historical fiction, this was another interesting perspective of the start of World War II.

Story line drew me in

Story is well told - separated twins in midst of fear as WWII broke out, and the families who choose to keep them safe. Audio version done so well.

Compelling WWII Story of Mothers’ Love

I read a lot of WWII historical fiction, and I have been trying lately to branch out to areas of conflict I know less about than France and Britain. I’m so glad I didn’t pass this one up on that criteria!! It was a beautiful story about doing the right thing, even if it breaks your heart. I loved it.

The undying love of a mother...

This is a beautiful love story told through the eyes of two brave women. It was the perfect balance of history, humanity, horror and hope. The narration was lovely and did not distract, but enhanced the storytelling.

Well developed characters and imagery. Very good narration. Beautifully written and well narrated. A great book.

A telling of sacrifice and selflessness in a terrible time

This was a good read and the performance was well done. I felt like I could picture the twins and the other main characters. I felt their despair, love and sacrifice in an uncertain time. It truly is a story of the lengths a mother will go to help and protect her children.

What a story!

Was riveted from beginning to end. Would the sisters ever get to meet one another? And growing up in two different countries. Excellent story line that will keep you up late at night!
