About this listen

Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I've had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones - the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones - all included him.

I was 10 years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn't love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

Stunning!

If I could give this audiobook more than 5 stars I would! This story is of a girl who was severely traumatized by witnessing a murder when she was ten, causing her to not speak for almost 20 years. The boy she has loved since she was five years old becomes her anchor and supports her throughout these years, even though she never leaves the house or talks. The beauty of this story had me tearful at times and the way the story ended is so perfect. The narration was excellent and this is now one of my favorite books of all time. Can't say enough good things about it. Love conquers even the most tragic things that can happen.

Ugly crying

This was such a sad story. Brooks and Maggie Were childhood friends who lived across the street from each other. They have such an adorable adolescent relationship. It was easy to see that they loved each other form the very start. However Maggie witnesses an event the traumatizes her. She goes mute and doesn't leave her house.
This causes a lot of complications for the people around her. In all of the chaos and pain, Brooks is her anchor. He constantly brings love and positivity to her life. Despite many obstacles (Her trauma and his blossoming music career) they find happiness.
I really believed in this Love story. I found the characters to be do believable and lovable. Their sacrifices, their decisions, and their fears felt too real. I literally ugly cried in some sections. There's lots of angst an emotion, I would not recommend reading/ listening to this in public.
Loved both Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. I especially enjoyed Joe Arden trying to sound like a child. He really went for it.

Heartbreaking but worth a listen

This was a good story - beautifully written and performed! I’m glad I listened to it and feel that I am a more whole person for having gone through the pain. However, there were elements that were frustrating and all together too fantastical, even for romance. Overall, I would recommend the audiobook because it makes you think and consider others’s perspectives, but I will definitely think twice before reading another book by this author. She is a great writer, but audiobooks are my escape so I’d rather spend my time listening to something that is more lighthearted or has more action and suspense.

Super emotional and great!

This is a very emotional rollercoaster. It's a great story and very sweet, loving and sad. Get tissues ready for this story because it's sad and intense at times too. Great narration for sure.

Beautiful and emotional!

That was an emotional rollercoaster and I can’t recommend it enough. I saw this book on BookTok and had to download it. A mute heroine who witnessed a horrific thing that stole her voice. And the boy next door who was her rock through the next 20 years of her life. Brooks was amazing. Just perfect. And Maddie May, I felt her in my soul. This book had me crying several times. Both happy and sad.

Erin Mallon and Joe Arden were absolutely phenomenal. They made this book even more emotional and personal to me.
