About this listen

Still healing from the loss of her father and dealing with the aftermath of a rocky relationship, Sarah is more than ready to jump into her new career in a Silicon Valley start-up. Heading out to celebrate the end of the pandemic and her new job with friends seemed like a good idea last night. But as she wakes the morning after, staring into the face of impulsivity itself—a sexy guy clutching his pillow the way he clutched her the night before—she takes the easy way out and slips silently into the San Jose morning, determined to put him, and any other distractions, behind her.

After years of working towards his PhD in computer science, Nathan’s ready for a change and jumps at the chance to join his best friend’s tech start-up. It’s all-consuming and cutthroat at times, but he’s ready for anything. Anything, that is, except discovering Sarah, the charming woman he spent one unforgettable night with, works at the company that just promoted him to the C-suite.

Despite their best efforts to keep their relationship professional, things heat up. But secrets come out—including Nathan’s entanglement with his ex—and Sarah and Nathan must ask themselves whether their particular brand of start-up can succeed in such uncertain conditions. Will the connection they’re building go to market, or like most start-ups, will the obstacles along the way cause them to fail?

Sexy might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “high tech”, but the chemistry between Sarah and Nathan will make you think again.

Cute Rom Con

Thank you, Evie, for the copy. I really enjoyed the characters and story. The only down fall was the narrator. She has a very flat robotic voice, and instead of performing the story, it felt like she was reading the words with minimal emphasis.

A love story in a tech company

Ship It is a romance novel with characters that navigate their careers and relationships in the tech world in San Jose. Sarah, the main character, wakes up next to a sexy stranger after a night out, and she later discovers her in a new place of work. They fall for each other but their relationship is tested when an ex tries to get in the way. Ship It is a well-written book with steamy and heartwarming sceneas. I enjoyed it and recommend to others.

Cute romcom

Cute story with very likable characters. The perspective changes made it a little hard for me to get into especially at the beginning. I got used to it as it went on. I was not a fan of the narrator. It felt like words off the page verse a story being told.

Adorable tech rom-com

I’m a fantasy/dark rom girly who loves a rom-com in between to cleanse the palate, and “Ship It” is the perfect book for that.
Pros:
- Nice fast paced palate cleanser
- Pacing was consistent
- Characters were relatable (the emo girl who loves books + tech nerd struck home hard)
- 1.5 🌶️ on spice
- Workplace rom
Cons:
-Those not familiar with the tech/startup world may miss somethings due to not being familiar with the lingo.
- Narrator for audio seemed bored/almost robotic in places. I had to crank up the speed, especially when she reads Nate’s POV’s.
Overall Ship It was an adorable, heartfelt, fantastic debut from the author.

Cute

Very cute easy & easy to listen to.
Narrator was a let down for me though. A little
Bland and somewhat robotic. Towards the end of the book I changed the speed 1.2x and that did help.

If you like The Spanish Love Deception you’ll love This.

This book was extremely refreshing, and one that I found that I could fly through and found myself not wanting to put it down. The story was extremely well written, and most importantly, it had great smut. There was several times that I was smiling from ear to ear from the romance plot in the story. I’m very excited to have a physical copy of this book. a great pallet cleanser, if you are looking for something in between series, but overall in general, a fantastic, romance book. I cannot wait for a book 2 !!

A cute romantic book

This was a cute and sweet plot with very like able characters, but the different perspectives (1st and 3rd person) confused me a little and was hard to get into. I love the banters between Sarah and Nathan because it is cute and funny to me, which make it realistic. I felt like there should have be two voice actor one for female and one for male because when I read or listen to a book, I like to imagine myself in those scenes or some or to have some type of attraction to the characters plus it would be easy to tell the difference between characters pov’s. The spicy level could definitely be better but I definitely understand that this is a cute romance book. I did not understand some of the tech terms but it did not take away from the listening experience. Overall this is a great cute romantic book that is worth checking out!
