About this listen

What would you change if you could start all over again? From Leeanne Slade, the bestselling author of The Rebound and Told You So, and narrated by Daisy Edgar Jones (Normal People) and Sam Claflin (Me Before You), this summer, fall in love with Henry and Grace.

Five Years Earlier

Henry Dunne knows three things: that agreeing to host this raucous house party was a terrible idea, that he absolutely cannot show up to his nursing shift tomorrow with a hangover, and that the beautiful redhead in the corner will be sleeping in his bed tonight.

But what he doesn’t know is that Grace Monroe, the ambitious and fiercely independent chef catering this party, is about to walk a tray of cream cheese appetisers straight into his chest and turn his world upside down. Now, the work-a-holic with a reputation for keeping things casual is planning romantic dates and meeting the family. Utterly smitten, Henry now knows something else: that Grace is the one and that absolutely nothing could come between them. . .

Present Day

Grace Monroe is one day away from thirty, her restaurant has just been declared bankrupt, her beloved grandmother has been rushed to hospital, and she’s now sobbing in a packed train station. The only way life could get worse is having Henry Dunne – the man who showed her what true love and heartbreak feels like – see her like this.

And there he is, wordlessly watching her from the opposite escalator.

A bottle of wine and an erratic wish later, Grace wakes up to one hell of a life glitch: it’s five years earlier, her twenty-fifth birthday, and she’s got picture-perfect memory of the missing years. Grace’s plan is clear: save her doomed career and prevent the worst heartache she’s ever known. All she needs to do is stop history repeating. . .

Easy, right?

A Love Story. A Predictable One.

I think I have read and listened to half-a-dozen books this year relating to unintended time travel. It's not a subject I generally go for although the concept of being to change the past is very appealing.

This story didn't do it for me. An immature irresponsible vegetarian cook takes people's finances for granted. A nurse who is emotionally obtunded and has lax views on healthcare ethics has no concept of what a gift is.

The two have a chance to change the past and...they do in a toxic yet boring way.

The romance in this story felt flat. I was supposed to believe these people were soulmates but...like...where? It just seemed like a stream of selfish decisions, immature outbursts, and things just falling into place for the main character with most minimum of efforts.

Could it be one of my favorite books ever???

So far, I’ve loved all of the authors books, but this one might be my favorite period. It was slow to start, but it could not have ended more perfectly. Can’t wait to share this title with my friends.

I love her other two books; each one gets better. The depth is incredible. It is an epic love story that I will continue to think about. Can’t wait for the next one. ❤️

Terrific! Deep.

I really liked this story. Sometimes I was confused whether if it was current day or a flashback. Regardless, the tale was great! The dream everyone has to have a do-over to correct their worst mistake(s) is told through a wonderful, swoonworthy, love story.

The bathroom…

Even at the end of the book (14 straight hours later) is some of the funniest things I’ve heard in awhile. Still giggling 🤭. Love the hold idea and production.

Sam Claflin ❤️

I love the author’s previous 2 books, so when I saw she had another one out and then saw that Sam Claflin (!!) was one of the narrators, I was ridiculously excited! I love him. And his voice brings me peace. Truly. ☺️ Daisy Jones & The Six is one of my most favorite soundtracks. ❤️🎶 And now, I could just listen to him narrate stories all day long. He and Daisy were both perfect in this! I didn’t enjoy the story itself as much as her first 2 though, mainly because I found the character of Grace to be kind of insufferable & so very selfish. But, I loved Henry and their friends and Dottie and I was definitely interested and intrigued to see how it was all going to play out. The concept was fun & unique and the twist at the end was pretty cool, I didn’t see that coming. I really enjoyed the ending & how everyone’s stories turned out. And even though she upset me ;) I was very happy that Grace & Henry got their HEA! ❤️
I definitely look forward to Leeanne Slade’s next book, a must-listen author for me! I really enjoy the dual narration, so I hope that continues for future books. And I vote for more Sam Claflin, too. Please. And Thank You. 😊
