About this listen

Barrett

The name's Barrett Callahan. Yeah, that Barrett Callahan - the one the press dubbed "bare", after those naked sexting pictures surfaced. At 25, I was armed with an MBA from Harvard, an executive position at my father's Fortune 500 company, a penthouse, and a different piece of delectable eye candy in my bed every weekend. I had a life most men dreamed of. But then my father decided to run for president, and my playboy lifestyle became a liability to his campaign that was built on family values. My "makeover" comes in the form of a fake fiancée who I don't even get to choose - one who is an uptight, choirgirl, acting prissy, but also sexy as hell.

Addison

My latest relationship had gone down in flames, and I was drowning in a sea of student loans, when, in true Godfather status, James Callahan made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Seven figures for seven months on the campaign trail, pretending to be the adoring fiancée of his son, Barrett. As soon as he won the election, our engagement would be dissolved amicably for the press, I was free to ride off into the sunset a million dollars richer, and because of the NDA, no one would be the wiser. Sure, I'd never met the guy, but I'd been a theater nerd in high school. I could pull off any role from Lady Macbeth to Maria Von Trapp. But that was before I met my fake fiancé - the infuriating, self-absorbed, egotistical, drop dead sexy, King of the Man Whores.

The race will be a fight-to-the-death finish, and that's not even the actual campaign.

Loved it

Great story with a lot of little surprises. Enjoyed all the characters. The two main ones were a lot of fun to get to know.

A funny, cute read.

I laughed out loud. It was comical at times. A fun read. The narrators were great! The love story was predictable, but the writing and narration brought the story to life.

Fun sweet listen

Really loved this storyline, would have loved to seen more of their interaction, found it jumped chucks of time but other than that was a great read

Awesome narration!

Excellent narrators. I loved this story. I think we need a sequel, and I’d like to see the next stage for Ty.

I Vote For You

Barrett and Addison are running together towards something extraordinary! Nothing could quite prepare Addison for the proposition she got when she entered campaign headquarters that fateful day. Never in a million years would she have expected that when she offered to do anything to help James Callahan’s Presidential Bid that they would ask her to be James playboy son’s fake fiancée to help clean up his image. Barrett Callahan is very thing and nothing like she expected rolled in on one delicious tempting package. If you were to ask Barrett he would loudly and proudly proclaim he loved his life. Too bad his life apparently is poison to his father's campaign. When they come to him with a plan to try and clean up his image he knows he has to go along with it for his father. Addison is saucy and sexy and completely everything he never knew he needed or wanted. When the lines of fake and real blur, he knows he can’t let her go, but can he convince her this leopard has changed his spots.

Narration- Stephanie and Jeff knock this out of the park. Their chemistry is off the charts. They have a delicious push and pull that leaps right out of your ears! Side note all the Ty parts are quite incendiary!

Great listen but Predictable

If you could sum up Running Mate in three words, what would they be?

Predictable, Funny, Romance

What does Jeffrey Bratz and Stephanie Wyles bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They did a great job moving back and forth and making the listener feel as though it was jsut two people retelling their love story.

Cute Fake Engagement Story

A political romance without any political agenda. I enjoyed the alternating POVs between Addison and Barrett. The chemistry between the two was incredible, and I loved seeing how Barrett wanted to take care of Addison - a first for him - and how stubborn Addison was at first, but eventually enjoyed being cared for.

My only complaint - there were numerous points where the story was summarized or sped up and the reader misses feeling the build, the emotions. Since the reader may feel detached from those points of the story, decisions the characters make may feel less genuine, or the reader may not understand some plot points.

The story was great until the end.

All was good up until the last few chapters. The heroine was strong and held her own and then all of a sudden and totally out of character (a-hem), became this stupid girl making rash, idiotic decisions. I mean, really? ugh. I don't regret listening to the story, but I was really annoyed and thought the ending was stupid. I couldn't finish the epilogue either. It had me rolling my eyes and I just couldn't take all the mush.

Good

I like the story, "Running Mate", and the author. The performance of Stephanie Wyles was lacking. When she read, she had a question at the end of dialogue that wasn't a question. A lilt, I guess. It was VERY annoying. Whereas Jeffery Bratz did an excellent job narrating each character. I'd like to listen to him again.
The audio book is worth a credit. 😁
