About this listen
Born with the power to control minds, hypnotize others, and read thoughts, Ren Lewis is certain of one thing: God made a mistake. No one should be born with so much power. A monster awoke in him the same year he received his gifts. At 10 years old. A prepubescent boy with the ability to control others might merely abuse his powers, but Ren allowed it to corrupt him. And since he can have and do anything he wants, Ren should be happy. However, his journey teaches him that harboring so much power doesn't bring happiness, it steals it. Once this realization sets in, Ren makes up his mind to do the one thing that can bring his tortured soul some peace. He must kill the monster.

An excellent read
I received a copy of the audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book of the author I have read/listened to and I will definitely read more of her work as I loved it. This character has a role in her other books so I will have to read them to get the full picture of the man and monster but I found him captivating and complex. The author had done a great job building this character and you can tell the love she has for him in the care she takes crafting the story. The pace of this book was great. The story never lagged. The book does jump ahead 18 years at one point but I understood that the story of these years will probably be covered in the author's other books. The narrator of the audiobook is excellent and definitely brought the character to life and I'm glad I listened to this story. Overall this was a highly enjoyable story that makes me excited to read more of the author's books and it is highly recommended.

Ren ROCKS!
This autobiography of Ren Lewis,a paranormal sociopath, brings us up to date on Ren. This multifaceted man is a Dream Traveler from one of Noffke's paranormal series but there's no need to read the series to appreciate Ren. Awesome stuff. Compelling read. Perfect pairing of book & narrator. New to me author that I definitely will read again. Ren #2 is already on my 'waiting for' list of books.

Ren The man behind the monster 4 6 2016
I like Ren Lewis,he is not the monster he makes himself out to be.He loves his parents and feels that they deserve better children than what they got.Ren tries to do the right thing when it matters if he will admit it or not. His sister Leza has allowed her bitterness and sense of entitlement to make her Phyco in her old age.
Ren is sarcastic, cantankerous and impatient but that doesn't make him a bad person even though he is really powerful and takes advantage of women with his mind controlling power and scams folks out of money when he needs to. From the time Ren was a kid he made trouble for his sister every chance he got. But she deserved it she was hateful to their mother who was a Midling, she wasn’t a Dream traveler she had no powers and therefore Leza felt she was beneath the rest of the family.
Ren fell in with a bad group of powerful dream travelers, who used him. Maybe a little too late to save a women Ren got away from them and was hunted for saving the women’s two new born infants and turning on the leader of this group.
He was approached by another group who used their powers for good, he was even given a prestigious title.
After his sister had kidnapped Ren and did unspeakable things to him he lost faith in his life. He went back home to see his dad and decided to change his life. That meant getting a job and not using his powers at all. All was going well for awhile till Group X tried to kill him at his job. He was late for work that day so he wasn’t hurt. Yet his friend June who was the female version of him. was killed. It was devastating. Pick up this great if you want to know more. It was a very enjoyable book, well written with lots of twist and turns.

Man behind the monster makes me want to know more
One thing is for sure. Too much power doesn't always lead to happiness. Ren is a man laden with one to many supernatural gifts. They make him cold and bitter towards the people and the world around him for the most part. This is a fascinating peak inside his head. Ren is a character that pops up in 2 of the other series that Sarah Noffke has written, one of which I have read. He is an intriguing character and one I'm happy to learn more about. I'm even more curious to see what the other 2 books in this series have to show me about his life. This book makes me want to read the Lucidite trilogy even more too.
I discovered Sarah Noffke's work this year and have yet to be let down. Her books are engaging and the subject matter is new and interesting. I'm always drawn in from the start. The characters are well developed and the plot always leaves me wanting more. I can't say enough good things about her books!
The narrator for this audiobook was an excellent choice. He suited Ren's character perfectly. His performance had a certain amount of cold arrogance that was exactly how I would have imagined Ren to speak if I was reading a physical book.
I'm really excited to continue this series!

A story with a lot of personality
If you could sum up Ren in three words, what would they be?
makes you think
Have you listened to any of Tim Campbell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first time I've heard Tim.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. Oh, the bar-tending empath.
Any additional comments?
Noffke's novels are reliably beautiful and entertaining. This one is no exception. Unlike some of her other novels, however, Ren is told in a way that makes you feel as if you are sitting down next to an old man telling his life story instead of living the story with him. For this reason, the story lacks some of the tension one might otherwise be accustomed to and has a slightly less gripping story arc (i.e., this isn't a book I'd feel compelled to stay up until 2am to finish). Yet, I still cared about the story. Ren's growth as a character is elegantly done, in a way that is not jolting and utterly believable, even as his beliefs and opinions nearly do a 180. Ren gives you a lot to think about.
Perhaps because I dearly loved some of the secondary characters (Ren's childhood friend and his bartending empath), I was disappointed that both were killed so quickly after their introduction. I would have liked to have seen more "screen-time" of both of them. Of all the characters presented, Ren's love interest fell flat for me. Even by the end of the novel, I didn't have a good grasp on who she was as a person. Their lengthy romance is mostly summarily covered after their first couple of encounters. These things probably contributed to the cause of why I couldn't really care less whether or not they lasted as a couple. I suppose maybe that's what Ren: God's Little Monster is for?
The narration is absolutely great. I don't care if the accents are perfect or not (wouldn't know either way), but the voices were individualized and almost perfectly unique. Probably some of the best women's voices I've ever heard from a male narrator.
I received this audiobook from the author free for review.

Amazing
Any additional comments?
I absolutely loved this book.Sarah Nofke is extremely talented at creating well developed characters that I feel connected too.I have enjoyed reading The Lucidites series and this is her best book yet.The story of Ren,and the influences and experiences that created this flawed yet intriguing man is amazingly written. The Narrator is quite pleasant to listen too and does an incredible job portraying Ren.I highly reccomend this book to any fan of the sci-fi and YA genres. This is one of the best books i've read this year.I received a copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.
